Woah! This game is something
I have to admit that this game was a bit of a shocker-- it hits hard and fast. There, I confessed. Love the graphics, the story, the content is hilarious, I never expected this thing to work but it's probably going to be one of the must-have-yet-flying-under-the-radar games of the year. I haven't seen it featured in any of the popular gaming mags, probably because it's based on a show and was considered to be a way of cashing in on an existing brand. Oh well, their mistake. Instant cult classic, and yes the gameplay suffers somewhat because of the tripped out camera; however, this is insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Games like Tomb Raider Underworld have shown us just how bad whacked-out camera controls really can be, and this game doesn't come anywhere close to being that bad. This game, in a word, is FUN.

A MUST BUY FOR AN AFRO FAN
I have only played the game for a little while, but so far it is awesome. Great graphics that look like they are straight out of the TV show. Good soundtrack even though I do not like rap. Ninja ninja (Samual L. Jackson) has great lines through out the game that make you laugh and keep you in good spirits, plus no one can curse like SLJ. All in all it is a fun hack and slash game full of blood, violence, nudity (naked ninja bit$hes), incredible graphics, and cursing. Just like the show. My major problem is the same as everyone elses, the camera sucks. Inverted left/right with no way to adjust.

Great graphic and concept. Very frustrating camera movement.
The first thing one notices in this game are the graphics, which are indeed awesome. It is like playing a comic book. The story line is classic--a son avenging the murder of his father. Samuel L. Jackson's voice overs definitely add to the fun. As does the first-rate soundtrack. As another reviewer has noted, the weak point in this game is the camera movements. When one starts, the camera's default mode is the reverse of every other game one has ever played--the camera moves as if one is looking at a mirror. One can fix that in the options menu by deselecting "default." However, that fix only results in the camera moving in the right direction. One can still only pan horizontally in most places, which is very annoying when one has to jump to a platform but can't see where the edge of a cliff is or what, exactly, one is jumping to. Beyond that, even the horizontal movements are spotty, especially in the midst of combat where one is often disoriented. If it were...

Afro Samurai brings gamers a balanced experienced, with stylistic combat and acrobatic platforming combined with the ability to dynamically slice and dismember enemies in unending ways. While gamers can hack and slash their way through many foes by combining heavy and light attacks with just two buttons, accomplished players will master moves like the Deep Throat Killer, where they pierce their opponent's neck and rip everything loose in a crimson splash.

Players will also need to learn the Focus maneuver with its bullet-time effect. This allows the user to slow down time and designate a specific strike zone, which with the right timing and skill can allow Afro to cleave an enemy in two or slice a limb completely off. And since characters are not pre-rendered you don't just get a canned scene when you cut through your enemy, giving you endless ways and means to cut your enemies down to size. Star-Studded Supporting Cast
Samuel L. Jackson reprises his role as both Afro and Ninja in the game, and the same striking art style that made the anime series so popular provides the unique look and feel across beautifully animated open environments. And for those of you who are wondering, developers Namco Bandai let Jackson ad-lib a lot, so be prepared for his branded vulgarity and the M rating it helps the game earn.

Meanwhile, Ron Pearlman and Kelly Hu continue on in their roles as Justice and Okiku, while RZA of Wu-Tang Clan fame has created all new tracks for the hip-hop inspired soundtrack. And thanks to an innovative gameplay system, the enemy AI and tone of the game are affected by the beat of the musical score, for a truly immersing experience.

With its visual stunning graphics, and fluid and graceful movements, Afro Samurai will provide hours of entertaining, balletic action. Add to this ground-breaking elements like health that is represented by the blood on your clothes, or your enemies', and you have a game that simply can not be passed up.

RZA Presents: Afro Samurai Soundtrack
To tell you the truth, I actually had no idea how this album would turn out musically at all. I am really familiar with RZA's different styles of production, but I was eager to see how this would turn out.The production on this album is what caught my ear the most. If your a Wu-Tang Clan fan, you can hear some of that style integrated into this album, but one thing that shocked me was that there was SO much versatility! You got some bangers like, "Certified Samurai", "Just A Lil Dude", "Cameo Afro" and so on, then you got R&B type tracks like "Oh", "The Walk" and "Baby". Hearing RZA produce these R&B tracks lets you see how good of a producer he actually is. Instead of sticking to one style of production in this album, he approached it from quite a few different angles to keep you listening throughout the album. This album shows RZA's true production talent. The lyrics are on this album are also great, appearances from quite a few different artists. Most are...

Given RZA's work on both the Ghost Dog and Kill Bill soundtracks, it's no surprise to see the venerable Wu-Tang producer tackling Afro Samurai. However, unlike the previous albums, where RZA more or less created scores, the Afro Samurai soundtrack is a mix of instrumental and conventional rap songs, featuring an eclectic mix of MCs, including Talib Kweli, GZA, True Master, and RZA himself. There are some strange tracks here, none more so than the maple syrupy R&B songs featuring Stone Mecca or Baby. The instrumentals, removed from the context of the movie, are themes rather than fully fleshed out songs but a few, like "Afro's Father Fight" are tantalizingly fast, furious, and funky. The rap songs hold some surprises, such as Q-Tip popping up on "Just a Lil Dude," or veteran Big Daddy Kane sparking off the dramatic "Cameo Afro." Fans of RZA's past albums, especially his Bobby Digital projects, will find Afro Samurai to their liking, but for those expecting a classic Wu-Tang album, they might be left lost in the oft-jarring mix of sounds. --Oliver Wang Top to learn more

Best Soundtrack Project RZA Has Ever Done
If the rating system was 1 to 10 (10 being a classic, 1 being trash), the review number I would give is 7.8. The biggest draw is (of course) the RZA produced tracks (except for like two songs), the album strikes me as being part soundtrack and part songs inspired by. The instrumentals for the anime are mixed between the vocal hip-hop tracks. RZA raps on three tracks, one of them being the theme for the show ("Afro Theme"). Other than "Afro Theme", I don't believe that there are any other rap tracks in the actual show. The instrumentals from the anime are alright, they are thankfully short and are diverse. Most of the instrumentals are not so much hip-hop influenced, instead they sound like blaxploitation movie soundtracks or like the Fight Club soundtrack from the Dust Brothers. Also, snippets of dialogue from the cartoon are nicely utilized to stamp the project with the Wu/RZA signature sound. The favorite instrumental of mine is "The Empty 7 Theme". I don't think most of the...

Sword Swinging, Gun shooting fun...but some flaws
I knew exactly what I was getting myself into when I purchased this game! As you may have read in other reviews it can be compared to Max Payne and Strangelhold. Especially the real bullet time. I'll tell you up front this game is not for everyone! PS3 Marketplace and XBOX Live each have the demo available for download to try it out.The story plays exactly like a Quentin Tarentino movie. It is very fast paced, lots of running shooting, sword swinging action. There's the basic play, every few levels the main character (Rubi) goes into "rage" mode which turns the whole stage to blood red/white/black anime style which is fun. Other different things the game features are "time trial target practice modes" and a few scattered button pressing action sequence scenes. AKA It will tell you to press the "Triangle" at a certain moment and if you don't you will get shot/stabbed/fall off a moving vehicle. There's no online multiplayer but this game is fun. Good...

Good, enjoyable, as expected
I was anticipating WET since I first read about it on IGN. After finishing the game, I can say that it's pretty solid overall and I found it fairly enjoyable. A lot of people are complaining about the controls, but I found them to be pretty intuitive. Not really sure what their problems were. The style, presentation, acting and music are all top-notch. The graphics are a little rough around the edges, but I wasn't expecting them to be great. I found the acrobatics to remain surprisingly fresh throughout most of the game, although things do get a bit repetitive towards the end (and yes, the final boss "battle" sucks). But there were plenty of "woah" moments for me when I wondered how other games haven't already tried some of the aspects before. With trophy support and adjustable difficulties, I'll play through this again soon. It may not be worth the full $50+ price tag, but it's certainly worth checking out once the price drops or if you can find it used.

Wet is a very frustrating game filled with flaws
I was so excited for this game and now I feel let down. This game literally had me wanting to throw my controller through my TV half the time. Wet is the story of a problem fixer named ruby voiced nicely by Eliza Dushku. She takes jobs to eliminate targets and get caught in a war between two drug lords. The characters and art styles of the game were interesting this game reminded me of Max Payne. The problem is Max Payne was better and it came out what 8 years ago. The aiming for this shooter is a bit dated what saves it is that when you jump slide or shoot time is slowed down and ruby always lock on one target with her duel weapons allowing you to mow down enemies. In fact if you aren't jumping or sliding or something you'll be dead soon. This works fine in combat and its fun. However the numerous bugs and glitches wear your patience thin by the 3rd level and things keep sliding down from there. I died a ton of times trying to jump from ledges due to poor camera and touchy controls...

Afro Samurai: Complete Murder Sessions
I've noticed lately that a lot of these reviews have been on the series itself. Let me provide you with a review on the product. Quite simply, it's top notch. The quality is amazing, far better than what I expected or remembered from the TV broadcast. The set contains two thin DVD cases, each with it's own artwork. Each case contains two discs. The original series, Afro Samurai-the five episode set, are contained on the first disc in the first case. Unlike previous director's cuts, they are separate episodes. The second disc contains the series' special features. Likewise, Resurrection is contained on the third disc in the second case, and it's bonus features are contained on the fourth disc. The actual case that houses both of the thinner cases is slightly larger than a normal DVD case and opens like a book-it doesn't snap shut like a standard DVD case. At the prices these sellers are offering, this is a steal, just for the neat looking case alone :) I highly recommend this product...

Great Anime, Amazing Action Sequences
Afro Samurai is a great anime with a very nice story and well designed characters. It also has it's comical moments and it is very very action packed. I watched this on a 42inch Insignia and the video quality is stunning. Audio also sounds great. Highly recommend this for anime fan, action fans, or anyone who wants a good well developed story with lots of blood, carnage and revenge.Disc 1 Contains the first 5 episodes which is Afro Samurai: Season 1 and Disc 2 contains the movie Afro Samurai:Resurrection. If you own the previous version of these on Blu-ray, there is no reason to buy this. The special features are basically the same. Also, i noticed that the afro samurai individual releases came with artwork booklet while this release came with no booklet, it only has a slipcover instead and different artwork for the disc

Just a note
Amazon recommends that you buy this ALONG with ] and . That's what I ended up doing. Thing is, though, that all this is is both of those two sets together. Buy EITHER season one & Resurrection together, OR get the Complete Murder Sessions, there's no reason for both, unless you want to keep either/or in the shrink wrap as a collector's piece, which really isn't such a bad idea.

It's the Perfect Afro... with some Head Lice...
Afro Samurai is an action game based on the anime that aired on Spike TV in 2006. Both the game and anime chronicle Afro Samurai's ultra violent quest to avenge his father's death. Lots of effort was focused on the style of the game and it really paid off. The writing, art, acting, combat, music, all flow together to create a fun experience... but the game has some serious flaws.Story / Dialogue 8/10The story is well told and voice acted by Samuel L. Jackson, Kelly Hu, Ron Pearlman... The dialogue is entertaining, humorous, and deeply poetic at times. However, unless you've watched the anime, the story will be hard to follow and may seem like a hip hop ronin acid trip with a large dose of Samuel L. Jackson. The relationships between the characters and the events in the story aren't fully explained in the game, but it still manages to entertain. If you've seen the anime, you'll be fine.Graphics 9/10The game does the best job ever at...

Afro Samurai Review - A good game getting a bad rap.
I was pretty excited about this game when I heard it was being developed as I am a fan of the series. Upon reading several reviews such as IGN, GamesRadar and GameSpy I almost passed on getting it. It seemed that yet again something I liked had a poor game made based on it. I bought Afro Samurai anyway and man am I glad I did, here's why. First off let me start by correcting a few erroneous errors in some of the reviews I read that lead to their scores.GamesRadar claimed that the instruction manual listed the wrong command for dashing. The manual lists clicking the left stick to dash. This is correct. While moving Afro in any direction clicking the left stick results in...guess what....a dash. Clicking it while stationary does nothing. Like many other action games with a run button you have to click it in conjunction with a directional input.Gamespy noted a "game-stopping bug" that prevent ropes from being cut in the game. There is no bug. The ropes in question...

A fun, but flawed, bloody action brawl
Because being a fun, ultraviolent anime blast wasn't enough, Afro Samurai makes the splash into the video game world courtesy of Namco Bandai. Samuel L. Jackson returns to lend his voice to the revenge-driven Afro as well as his foul-mouthed sidekick Ninja Ninja, in a storyline that more or less follows the plot of the first Afro Samurai flick, as you take on hordes of enemies and dish out bloody punishment. The fighting is mostly fun, as are the boss battles which are orchestrated wonderfully, but the best part of the game is undoubtedly the graphics and art design. Afro Samurai looks and moves fluidly and beautifully, and the game's soundtrack and voice acting are excellent as well. What really hurts the game however lie mostly in its controls and platforming. You can't really string together attacks, and the game's platforming elements are disappointingly clumsy. The game's schizy camera doesn't help matters either, and the fact that you can adjust the Y-axis but not the...
