A masterpiece
Although I had already downloaded the original LOVE album for free a while ago, I can safely say that I was incredibly pleased with the quality of the songs on LOVE Part Two after not knowing what to expect. I haven't even watched the LOVE movie it came with yet and I am excited to see how well it turned out. I recommend this package for any true AVA fan, for it is a bargain find for something with 2+ discs, a DVD, and even a poster, not to mention that it contains quite possibly the best underrated music one can find today.

Two CD's, one DVD, hours of non-stop LOVE. AVA is perfection
Love Part 1 & 2 and the movie are just pure epicness. I downloaded Love 1 the day it was available, valentines 2010 and am a huge fan of that album, and after listening to Love part 2 a few times from beginning to end, I can already tell Love 2 is better. Love 1 was an instant classic, and Love 2 takes a while to grow on you, but the songs overall imo are bigger and grander in an emotional sense and have a certain youthfulness to them that Love 1 didn't have as much. Which is a smart idea to have "Love", in every sense of the word, stay young. Arena Ready Rock
I feel the same way about Angels & Airwaves that I do about U2 - although they are not the greatest bands, some clichéd music, lyrics etc., they are also both hard not to like. Angels & Airwaves, often abbreviated AVA, have a fantastic stadium ready rock `n' roll sound that is energetic and infectious. The lyrics, although not always as enlightening as they could be, are so positive that it's difficult not to feel a renewed sense of life and love after listening to them.Tom's voice is probably the weakest link in this band, but he himself is the heart and soul of AVA, therefore could never be excluded. I mention that only to say that AVA could probably become an absolutely massive band if they had an amazing vocalist. However, within Tom's limited range is a sincerity rarely found within this genre.Love Pt.1 has been out for awhile, and although I appreciated the songs, there was nothing on that album that compared with their two previous albums, both of...

Fantastic, Bouncy, Head-bobbing Ear Candy
Love Part Two often sounds like the love child of The Edge and Tom DeLonge, and that's not a bad thing.I like U2. Always have. And I like Blink 182, in smaller doses. Put 'em together and you get something quite pleasant.Some might think it's a bit saccharine or trite, but if you have a soft spot for emotionally charged pop-rock, you might just be able to let this music lift your mood.

All You Needs Is....
When Tom DeLonge stepped away from Blink 182 and formed Angels and Airwaves, it was obvious from the first album that he wanted to make mature music. "Love" (parts one and two) is as epic as it comes. DeLonge wants to make anthems. Big music, like U2, Simple Minds, Muse, et al, to form a soundtrack for the modern world (or at least the independent feature film he executive produced of the same name). While it may not hit the heights he obviously is aiming for, "Love" is a sprawling, ambitious record. Not necessarily Smashing Pumpkins, but maybe 30 Seconds to Mars.There are a lot of Edge-Worthy guitar sounds and a whole lotta emoting. That may make you sound big, but it doesn't mean you're amazing. DeLonge has a one-dimensional singing style that holds the album back. The music, though, is broad and cinematic, ready to minor-key itself to the Twilight crowd. Plenty of grandiose imagery and profound attempts at lyricism (the opener, "Flight of Apollo," in particular)...

Angels really do have wings....
I have to say that I was deeply surprised by this 11 track offering from Tom Delonge and A&A. The first part, (Love Part 1) was issued some time ago and some might of thought this would be a second thought add-on or a money making grab but I'm here to tell you it's not any of those things. It is a stand alone Rock anthem..Make no mistake, there is a similarity between songs on this disc but Angels has crafted a masterpiece of sound- sometimes sounding like U2's edge decided to come and lay down some tracks or perhaps the sweetest stuff from BLINK 182... It has a more dramatic sound and a more mainstream acceptance yet does not sacrifice it's at times, uncompromising sound. This whole effort showed that Angels can succeed in developing its own sound within the sound.If you like U2, Blink 182, box car racer this will no doubt be in your rotation for quite some time. The music has depth and variety. It has made me a bigger fan!

Behold A Pale Horse
Love Pt. 2 picks up right where Love Pt. 1 leaves off. Definitely another great Angels and Airwaves album. This band continues to inspire through the music and film. The songs blend well into each other and have similar qualities to Love Pt. 1 and also older songs. But Love Pt. 2 also creates new sounds and direction through this album, Tom has a sweet guitar solo!You won't be disappointed if your a AvA fan, but if you only are a "Blink" fan then might not be your style.

Track by Track
Angels and Airwaves fourth full length album has arrived with little fanfare and few sales (30,000 first week according to Billboard). However, that doesn't mean that it isn't a damn fine album. In fact, it's a great album. It seems that Tom has taken to changing his views on what AVA really is , from his original claims to becoming the biggest band in the world, to accepting his still amazing accomplishment of being a a small independent project that has a hardcore small fan base and large aspirations. His change in perception however, has not changed his musical ambitions. In fact, this album is more "spacey" and "experimental" than any of Angel's other albums, and somehow, 5 years later makes We Don't Need To Whisper sound stripped down. Absolutely Epic
I honestly don't know where the negative reviews are coming from. I thought this DVD was amazing! It goes into the dissolution of blink-182, Tom's addiction to prescription drugs, and the point to their music overall. It's awesome to see the songs being constructed as the DVD goes on. They explain all sorts of little things that are really cool. Gives you more of an insight into the band and the first album. And the live performances are like, breathtaking. They are so epic.The special features are pretty cool. One is just more from the studio, where you basically see them putting together "The War" piece by piece, which is fun to watch. Another is a more detailed explanation of blink's breakup. Then there's an inspiring performance of "Distraction" live. The rest are music videos/short films for the songs. The last piece is just seeing some of the reviews, which last for about 30 seconds to a minute.The commentary is just kinda funny. Tom is the only one taking it...

After all they hype and wait....
Three and a half starsI have to admit that this documentary is something of a disappointment. Let me backtrack a second. There seems to be three types of music fans over the last three years. Those who love and worship Angels and Airwaves, those who absolutely hate Angels and Airwaves, and those who don't know who the hell Angels and Airwaves are. Unfortunately, it appears that most of the population in the world fits into the third, but I undoubtedly, undeniably and proudly fall into the first. Whisper and I-Empire are two of my favorite albums of all time and are in constant rotation on my i-pod and cd player. I regularly check forums, fan sites and Mod-Life to see what the band is up to. You can only imagine than that I was seriously looking forward to this documentary which has been talked about for for so long to finally come out. It's finally here and....???
After all the hype and wait for the Angels & Airwaves DVD "Start the Machine" it's finally arrived and depending what you're looking for this is either a pleasant surprise or a disappointment.This DVD is basically a look at Angels & Airwaves as they created the "We Don't Need To Whisper" album. And for this purpose the DVD delivers great insight. You get a great look at the inner working of the band within the studio experience. You get to see what Tom Delonge was thinking and where he wanted the Band and the Music to go. I think if you're a musican or a producer, this DVD will be very interesting to you.If you are looking for something more along the lines of "Behind the Music: Motley Crue" then this DVD is not for you. While there is some discussion about the Blink 182 breakup, Drug use and other outside factors this DVD does not deliver these all that thoroughly or in great detail.The Special Features aside from the interview with Tom Delonge where he speaks...

A worthy follow-up to We Don't Need To Whisper
Already, I-Empire is one of the best albums of the year (if not THE best). Of all the CD's I've listened to this year, this one, by far, is very optimistic and uplifting, to say the least. The anthemic, 80's synth-pop, stadium-rock sound works very well here. And if it does sound formulaic, so be it! Very heartfelt and inspirational too! Tom DeLonge has definitely come a long way from his Blink-182 days, and I'm all the more glad for it! Instead of the usual bratty, toilet humor, we get mature, "reach for the sky" sentiments, that is, keep going, no matter what happens to you in life. Honestly, I think that's what we need more nowadays. By the way, forget about that Rolling Stone critic who gave this fine CD only 2 1/2 stars. According to the review, "Blink-182 guitarist is all grown up and synth-poppy. But is that a good thing?" Better than the first album.
Whereas "We Don't Need to Whisper" sounded a bit forced and stuck in the eighties, I-Empire brings back Tom Delonge to his element; this move should please both blink fans and fans of AVA alike. There is a much harder rock sound to a lot of the songs on this album, and the slower songs show a side of Tom we've never heard. "Rite of Spring" is also the most personal song he has ever written. This album feels much more thought out as well - there aren't needless wandering instrumental bits stuffed into the songs. Pick it up if you like catchy rock music with a positive theme (the powerful notion that "you can do anything"). Highly recommended.

Once again
the guys do it for a 2nd time. A&A make another high quality, energy filled yet important cd with a message. Its done while having fun and going through different moods from tracks like "Everything's Magic" its fun and irressitible song for them to "Star of Bethlehem" a two minute interlude...unlike other interludes on other albums this one actually warrants listening to.I was a fan from their first cd "We Don't Need To Whisper" with "I-Empire" the guys have firmly established themselves in this music industry and can/will only go up from here. As this cd is one that can't be ignored by folks at all. Loving the cd from beginning to end it flows from one track to the next with an ease that you seldom experience.First one was all that...2nd one is all that and so much more!!5/5 overall
