A must-have for enthusiasts
I originally checked out a battered, near-death copy of this book from my local library for some research. I was so impressed, I ordered my own copy for my personal library. The photos are absolutely gorgeous, with detailed shots of live-fire in historically accurate environments and excellent photos of the disassembled weapons as well. I was also very pleased to see the choices made in subject matter. In addition to the commonly documented weapons like the MP-40 series, MG-34 and MG-42 GPMGs and the much-touted MP-43/StG-44, this book also showcased the Mauser Schnellfeuer automatic pistol and both models of the FG-42 paratrooper rifle. Being something of an FG-42 lover, I was quite ecstatic at the amount of coverage lavished on these oft-overlooked weapons. For sheer photographic beauty and good research into the development and utilization of German WWII-era automatic weapons, this book is the gold standard. It may not pack as much detail on individual weapon types as a more...

Very good, Bruce is an Expert
It is very interesting, how an author who only done one other book specifically on guns can make such a good and realistic book on the subject. This book not only gives you a scence of knowledge about the guns after you read the book, but it also gives you a look into the furture of guns. I recommend it to anyone who wants to know more about guns. It is also interesting to note that German weapons have forever changed the course of gun manufactuering. Overall, I think it is one of the best books on guns that I have ever read.

Great Photos
Each page is filled with large, sometimes full page, color photos of actual German automatic weapons of WWII. Also shown in color are close up photos explaining, and depicting the operation, as well as "field stripping" of each weapon. Due to the great photography, this book serves well as a valuable adjunct to the library of any collector/owner of WWII German smallarms, and militaria.

Product Description

For nearly fifty years the hard-hitting, mobile Browning Automatic Rifle, or BAR, served in US infantry units as a light squad automatic "base of fire" weapon, providing quick bursts of concentrated fire. It was developed in response to the central dilemma of infantry combat in World War I - the need for a squad-level weapon that could suppress emplaced machine-gun positions. Designed by the renowned firearms manufacturer John M. Browning, the BAR could be fired from the shoulder or the hip while on the move. Unfortunately, initial production difficulties and commanders' reluctance to feed the new weapon piecemeal into the front line meant it was September 1918 before the BAR saw combat.

In the interwar years US forces used the BAR across the world, from China to Nicaragua; versions equipped the armed forces of Belgium, Sweden and Poland. It also became a favorite of notorious gangsters like Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker, who prized its ability to punch through police armored cars as though they were made of cardboard. US lawmen rapidly acquired the BAR for themselves, with the Colt R 80 "Monitor" variant becoming the official fighting rifle of the FBI from 1931.

At the outset of World War II the US armed forces decided to adapt the BAR for a light machine gun role. The BAR was not without its flaws; it was heavy and difficult to dismantle and reassemble, and it didn't cope well with sustained fire. Nevertheless, the BAR saw action in every major theater of World War II and went on to be used in Korea and in the opening stages of the Vietnam War. Brigadier General S.L.A. Marshall's pioneering study of men in combat revealed the tremendous psychological boost that the BAR gave to a squad in the field; Marshall discovered that riflemen were so glad to have a BAR in their midst that they readily volunteered to carry extra ammunition for their gunner.

Featuring arresting first-hand accounts, specially drawn full-color artwork and close-up photographs, many in color, this lively study offers a vivid portrait of this powerful, long-lived and innovative weapon that saw service with US and other forces across the world for much of the twentieth century. Haters Gonna Hate
I wasn't going to buy this gun after reading its reviews. The complaints I've read about the noise the gun makes & the weak stream it fires... It sounded like a bad deal. But then... Clips. CLIPS.I ended up at a toy store w/ a friend and, utilizing an awesome buy 1 get 1 half off deal, we decided to give them a shot. Thoughts? Totally worth it.No, it's not going to blow people away during summer water gun battles. It also is not designed for any real, ranged combat. But for up close, standard water gun fights? Rockstar y'all. Stock up on clips & a spare set of batteries & everyone shall feel jealous, wanting your modern, water war wagin' machine. Plus, it's fun! I've been practicing dropping the clip out w/ my middle finger & just letting it fall to the ground, Matrix style.I hope that Nerf continues to advance this line of weaponry, increasing the range of clip-based weapons, but for the time being I'm happy. Me & my crew are packing...

It works well!!!!
I bought two of these for my kids 3 days ago. The box says they shoot 25 feet, this is true. I disagree with the other review on here mine do not lose water from the barrel at all. These are batter operated guns that have a continuous stream. You are not going to get the same distance or power of a pump gun but that is to be expected. They are perfect for my 4 year old daughter, who has had trouble operating pump guns, and my 8 year old son. The changeable clips are very nice. I think this is an awesome product, it has an interchangeable stock with a Nerf gun (stock not included) and the rails on top hold a sight from a Nerf gun too. This is a very cool collaboration of the two companies. I would recommend this to any water gun lovers out there.P.S. Get rechargeable batteries for it!

Great battery operated soaker!
The Thunderstorm is great for a single handed battery operated soaker. The clip system works great and makes reloading very easy. Clips can be purchased on amazon for as little as $5 Bucks. The stream is small, but consistent (never stops as long as trigger is held) and has a pretty decent amount of force. Great for kids and pools.

I have the same problem YOU do. I taught "Wife" Donna to shoot, and she took it so seriously that I have to be right on "MY game" when I take her out, or she'll out-shoot ME. I actually like that though, because if someone WAS to try to break-in,... Like I said before, I had a really good time last time and I can't wait to do it again. She shoots 10 times better than me and I really don't want to go home angry that day. Now, don't let that be my last word on what I think about the Thompson. The FN P90 is a remarkable weapon, except for that nutty magazine design, and therefore the lack of availability. hahahahaha I'm just messin' I think it might be kinda cool if all three of us went out and spent some quality time together with the smell of gun powder in the air. What they did try to do, in relation to porting, never really quite fixed it, regarding the three I've fired on full auto (reproduction of course). I also need to touch base with an old blog buddy of mine who's been wanting to get his wife out there to shoot HER new pistol. Nope, I'll take a Thompson over them all. I didn't invite you along on it though, because you haven't been here long enough to get your hunting or fishing license yet, and we've got ONE particular game warden here who'd write his mother up for leaving a dirty dish in the sink. I'm hoping that Buckhorn will have the AK-47 ready by then so we can finish sighting THAT in. but if the barrel has to be re-threaded, or a new compensator has to be ordered, it might awhile.

Machine guns are subject to a $200 tax every time their ownership changes from one federally registered owner to another, and each new weapon is subject to a manufacturing tax when it is made, and it must be registered with the Bureau of Alcohol...

The poll results were welcomed by the NRA, which is one of the most powerful lobby groups in the country and regularly clashes with anti-gun groups and often with Democrats as it seeks to protect and expand gun rights across the United States. However, there was also strong support from respondents for background checks as well as limiting the sale of automatic weapons and keeping guns out of churches, stores and workplaces. Nearly three-quarters of respondents said they supported limiting the sale of automatic weapons, and 62 percent oppose bringing firearms into churches, workplaces or stores. Eighty-two percent of Republicans saw the gun lobbying group in a positive light as well as 55 percent of Democrats, findings that run counter to the perception of Democrats as anti-NRA. Most Americans support the right to use deadly force to protect themselves — even in public places — and have a favorable view of the National Rifle Association, the main gun-lobby group, a Reuters/Ipsos poll showed. Gun restrictions needed, most say According to the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, nearly 100,000 people are shot every year in the United States in murders, suicides, accidents or police intervention. Most of the 1,922 people surveyed nationwide from April Monday through Thursday said they supported laws that allow Americans to use deadly force to protect themselves from danger in their own home or in a public place. Eighty-seven percent of respondents — with high numbers among both Republicans and Democrats — supported the use of deadly force to protect themselves from danger in their home.

Both automatic and manual weapons are available, and automatic weapons will work more efficiently for less skilled players. To buy or not to buy: If you’re a fan of shooter games and like to play against other players, this is a worthwhile download, especially since it’s available for free. This control scheme works fairly well, but since the camera doesn’t move up and down like in a typical shooting game, it’s a bit hard to get used to. There are coins scattered all over the level, and it’s your job to snap them up. Of course, other... There are also special weapons, such as exploding cacti, which will buy you some time to get to a safe. Your bot’s movement is controlled with dual sticks, one of that moves the bot and one that turns the bot. What I liked: The graphics are great and the gameplay is smooth, even on 3G. It’s a good start to a game that’s only going to get better with time and more additions to the gameplay. There are a range of weapons you can equip, though they will need to be purchased with coins.
