Good Value Flash
Let's face it, photography is an expensive hobby. And while I agree that more money will usually get you higher quality products, for relatively newcomers to the game like me, spending $200 on a flash right out of the gate is a bit much.I was looking for a well priced but good quality flash, which I found with the Bower SFD728C. It is ETTL compatible with my Canon XTi, which made learning how to use a shoe flash as simple as the onboard flash. The guide number is also relatively high (don't remember the exact number),and I was able to shoot a wedding in a small church with little problem. It also has swivel and pan capabilities which don't seem to be as common in this price bracket, allowing for the all important bounce capabilities.My only complaint was that the locking ring was not very secure, and occasionally the flash would slip just far enough off the contacts to cause the camera to wig out when trying to fire the flash or a mistimed flash...

Entry level flash for Canon
This economical Bower SFD728C flash is designed specifically to be used with digital SLR Canon cameras with TTL and that is the key to it's appeal. It has no on board knobs or buttons for manual adjustment. Rather, it works great as an inexpensive point and shoot alternative to the more feature packed Canon brand Speedlite flash products.Reverse engineering some of the the more basic Canon Speedlite external flash features, the compatible Canon cameras will adjust this Bower unit's flash intensity, auto-focus beam, etc. as well as 2nd curtain photo tricks and in-camera manual flash compensation.The Bower SFD728C units locks tightly to my Rebel XSi flash shoe, and while the flash is all plastic construction it does not seem to be particularly fragile. Obviously, the manual zoom sleeve and the two way flash head swivel (horizontal and vertical) will allow you to try many of the bounce and indirect lighting tricks the pro's use with their much more expensive...

Good buy
This one Bower SFD728C is for my Canon XTi / 400D. Stepping into flash photography for the first time, I wanted something effective yet cheaper. After contemplating between the YN-565 and this one, I chose this as it has TTL where as the YN-565 is just manual with no TTL. Beginners would want to try automatic first, right? I was initially hesitant to order this, as it had only one review here at Amazon, but googling gave good number of positive reviews that I decide to bite the bullet. At $60, there is not much to lose :-)I have seen the canon speedlites before, the build quality of Bower's is not close the canon's, but it's not bad either. Pretty lightweight before popping in the batteries, but feels pretty solid with the batteries in it. The base however is plastic.Test shots were good initially as I hoped. The swivel and bounce results are fantastic. Then did a small photoshoot of parents at home using a sharp lens, and the pictures came out almost pro like...

Nothing left out and Plenty of Surprises
Somehow I was surprised that this was so well-written. Scotty Bowers seems like a nice, charming guy with boundless energy, curiosity and a great appetite for life who seems to have never had the slightest hang-up about sex. Of course having killer good looks and body didn't hurt. An interesting subtext about how witnessing real horror at Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima increased his need to live fully. The book is overflowing with juicy, bizarre, often very surprising gossip which can be hilariously funny, sometimes sad, and frequently over-the-top salacious. All of the in-your-face sexuality and pathos is interesting because it involves people who were so idealized at the time - and some still are. Plenty of rumors are confirmed and legends shattered. This goes well beyond "Hollywood Babylon" in explicitness and naming names. A real page-turner. The Oldest Man Alive
I wouldn't give this one five stars, because it was pretty "badly written," but we live in an age of contingency and I don't really care about what's good or bad in that sense. Obviously the autobiography of Scotty Bowers, or any 88 year old, is going to be uphill sledding, but I come away from it liking the man and envying him his exciting life at the top of the heap, procuring for and tricking the stars (nd not only the stars but people like J Edgar Hoover and the Windsors).Once or twice I started to doubt the accuracy of his memories. Not the Spencer Tracy story, the one has so many of my fellow reviewers hollering, but just little things. For example, Scotty attests that he procured young girls for Katharine Hepburn, the Duchess of Windsor, and Phyllis Gates, once the wife of Rock Hudson. Purchased this add-on wide angle lens to use in filming interior of real estate properties. The lens attachment, a steel ring that adheres to the front of the Flip Ultra lens area with self-stick adhesive, does not detract from the appearance of the camera. The lens appears to stay on well, though I haven't tried to jar the camera with the wide angle lens held on magnetically. In "normal" use, I don't think there would be any problem with it coming off.My greatest disappointment was with the quality of the picture when using the lens. Great DSLR Backpack for Great Price
I have scoured the Internet for low priced DSLR backpacks. I refuse to pay $79.99 for a backpack like the lowepro. I settled on this bag. This bag is very spacious, has adjustable/customizable velcro pockets inside for camera, lens, and other items, and has sufficient padding to protect everything. It also has an exterior tripod holder (which I have not used yet). Bag quality is good--the materials and zippers are not cheaply made. All in all, for the price you can't beat this backpack.

Great Amature Backpack!
I can use this backpack to carry/store my SLR camera with 3 lens, accessories, and external flash. It's very flexible and well built (and padded) for the price. The only downsides are if you need to take more then one camera or need something that's waterproof/resistant (or can carry a hydro pack) for extreme hiking. Either way, it is an amazing buy and is highly recommended!
