Excellent Beginner Book for Hobbyists/Beginners/Makers
I recommend this book strongly for anyone just starting out in electronics. Many other books introduce the subject of electronics by talking about the early discoveries concerning amber rods, Leyden jars, and static electricity. This book dives right in using parts that you can pick up at a local Radio Shack, or can easily order on-line. And it uses a fun almost playful approach to experimentation. Your first experiment involves touching a battery to your tongue! Man, that will either annoy you into quitting or completely intrigue you into learning more. My bet is it will spark (pun intended) your interest and excitement as it leaves you with a funny metallic taste.This is exactly the hands-on approach that I was looking for to teach my son. Something that he can read on his own, or read with me. Easy experimentation, clear steps, good photography. Finally - an electronics primer that is understandable and practical!
I can't say enough good things about this book! I learned more in the first 20 minutes with this book than I did after pouring through several other "electronics basics" books for countless hours.Instead of starting with math and theory and circuit analysis, this book uses hands on exercises and explains the theories in very easy to understand language and metaphors. But, it still does then circle back to explain the math and theory upon which the practical examples are based.I'm only about 1/3rd of the way through the book and projects, but I'm excited to get to the point of using IC's. I've browsed ahead enough to be confident that I'm going to be able to put execute on these projects and then put this knowledge to good use.I highly recommend this for anyone who wants to do some tinkering with electronics of any sort. As you see in the video, it has the built in ability to be utilized as a stand for watching videos etc. I really like the inner strap- there are 2- one on the outside and one on the interior flap. The thicker, and tighter or more taut inside flap can be used when you are holding the Kindle in your hand, and you have the cover folded back so as to expose the screen of the device. It really makes quite a difference as opposed to just walking around and holding the kindle in your hands alone. It feels much more secure with your hand wedged in that strap. I had been using the cardboard box insert that came with the Fire , propped up, as a way to view videos before this cover arrived, and this is certainly a much better way to prop up and view the device. Functional and formidable, albeit pricey.
It feels nice to hold, and looks sorta slick. The little grippers feel solid, I'm hoping the Fire will fill out the bit of give my 3g has in the case though. Like was said, it's not exactly nice leather, in fact I'm not entirely convinced it's real leather, but the case does have a fairly dense padding feel to it like it would absorb a good amount in a drop. Also, all the corners are covered with the hardest padding, which is important. As for the folding display feature, it's less... what's the word... mechanical, I guess, than I would hope. It's more zen and the art of bending the cover. It's rather loosely held in that position relying on the friction between the bottom of the kindle and the padding. The case is fairly rigid, even in the crease so hopefully it'll loosen up in time, but this is a far-cry from the nifty iPad magnetic cover display. This is also far from cheap, it's actually fairly expensive, then again, all of your options are. I look at it this way, is it worth $15...

Using it with Kindle Fire -- plusses and minuses
I wanted a case that doubled as a stand and this fit the bill. Other option is the hard shell case which didn't appeal to me. The leather is nice enough, looks relatively elegant. The whole thing is a little thicker than I would have liked but then again so is the Fire. The Kindle snaps right in easily and is quite secure. I spent a few minutes trying to figure out how to make it into a stand (it's not obvious AT ALL) but you have to look at the picture carefully. You need to un-snap one corner of the Fire from the case and rest it on the interior cover like the picture. It's not very intuitive but it works fine. It's a bit limited in angles you can use but it will be fine I think. Overall I like the case. Not love, but like. It came very quickly -- one day shipping even though I did not pay for it.

Definitely Not OEM Apple Headphones
These are definitely not OEM Apple headphones. All the reviews claiming that these headphones are indistinguishable from the original headphones that came with their iphone must not be looking very hard. These headphones are don't use whatever anti-tangle tech that the original iphone headphones use. The wire on my original headphones feels rubbery, responsive, and soft, the wire on these headphones feels plastic-y and flat and is prone to tangle. The actual earbuds are different too. You can see through the grill into the hardware beneath which I can't do with my original headphones.They didn't come with any Apple manual either. So don't believe that lie.On the positive side, the mic does work as advertised and the sound quality isn't too bad. For the reduced price they're decent enough. But don't expect the actual Apple headphones.

If you are looking for a professional belt sander, this is the one to own. Porter-Cable invented the belt sander, and this shows why they are still the industry leader. Big bad boy
This sander is very high quaility, and will last for years. It is very powerful, you can sand anything in about 1/2 time compared to a normal belt sander, because you can put so much pressure on it. It works great and the dust bag is great, it holds alot of dust and has yet to rip. The sander is also very stable, ive used it for hours with no fatigue. the speed is also very easy to adjust, just with a simple flick of your thumb. I highly reccomend this belt sander.

PC 360vs beltsander
I purchased this sander when they first came out. The dust pickup is not as good as the older model. The dust inlet is located on top of the driver roller. The older model (pre-whisper) had the dust inlet located at the back, near the bottom, of the driver roller, which pckup a lot better. The problem is enhanced with the lower variable speeds.

Worth DOUBLE the money
Excellent scale, even for double the money. The tare feature works like most others, but the three real goodies are:... the FOUR MINUTE before auto-cutoff. Not like the Taylor scale I had that cut off after one minute of nonuse. It was always cutting off on me before I was finished with it.... and NO DEFAULT SCALE It's the same as when you last turned it off (if you were using grams, the next time you turn it on it's still in grams, OR ounces at OFF then it's ounces at ON). Tap the button to change g/oz on the fly.... AND it holds A FULL ELEVEN pounds (5kg). I put a bag of flour on it, set tare, and scoop out until it reads xx-ounces (virtually impossible with a 6# scale).Yeah, I was a chef for many years and more interested in utility over aesthetics in my equipment. Accurate, Durable, Convenient, & Small
Love the scale. Tested accuracy, with perfect results, using nickels -- they weigh five grams apiece. Very sensitive so it can weigh small amounts of ingredients. Lent it to a friend to weigh his son's Pinewood Derby car. He dropped the scale down a flight of stairs but the scale lived on. And his son's car won the derby.One complaint: Anything more than just a small bowl or plate set on the scale will block the display making it difficult if not impossible to read. Would be nice if the display faced outward rather than just upward.

Great value, but 1 important accuracy quirk
I was looking for a reasonably priced scale and I don't believe you should have to spend $50 to get a decent scale. Based on some good reviews here I chose this one and am very happy with it. If it was lost or stolen I would buy another one without hesitation. I would have given this scale 5 stars rather than 4 if it weren't for a serious omission of a "feature" in the documentation that can cause large accuracy problems when dealing with the tare feature. It's not a problem with the scale as long as you are aware of it, it's a problem with the documentation. This problem could explain why some other reviews stated this scale is inaccurate.The problem is that when this scale is zeroed it goes into an auto-zero mode where small changes (1g or so) in weight cause the scale to continuously re-tare and stay at zero. I discovered this when I put a dish of almonds on the scale and hit tare. I removed almonds 1 at a time and the display always returned to zero. I had removed 15...

Just As Described
I am a little surprised by the reviews. When I read them yesterday, I was ready to return my case when it arrived today.I bought this because I wanted the lightest case possible that would provide protection. It is very light. As the product description explains, the case is polycarbonate (an impact and scratch resistant PLASTIC) which has been rubberized on the outside, and the cover is a soft fabric (rubberized with a felt layer on the inside. Yes, the elastic strap is glued, but so what? Glue is a good thing.It feels "cheap" because it is very light (so light I thought the package was empty). According to my postage scale, it weighs a tad over 3 ozs. The stand does not stay in place unless it is weighted with, of all things, a Kindle Fire inserted into it. Then it works perfectly.It is exactly as advertised: a very light, form-fitting case that offers good protection for the device with a simple display stand. Nothing fancy. Certainly doesn't...

I actually like this case!
I am puzzled with all the bad reviews for this case. I was expecting something terrible to show up when I saw the reviews start popping up yesterday. The case is basically a plastic shell on the outside for the back, and a thin synthetic type material for the front, very similar (but thinner) to Apple's smartcover for iPad 2. The device fits inside the plastic shell perfectly. There is no room for it to move around at all.The plastic part has a elastic band on the bank which can be used to insert your hand and hold the device when reading on it, or it can be brought to the front to securely close the front flap on the case. Overall it is a slim profile case that adds only marginal bulk to the device. The front flap has in inner velvet lining which comes in contact with the screen and keeps is safe.Parts that could have been better - the front flap is slim, but a little too thin. I'm sure it will protect the device adequately, but it feels lacking in terms of...
