A nice cup of coffee
I am satisfied with the purchase of the newest HT Phase Bunn Home Brewer.CONS: You can't be in a hurry with this maker. Ours takes a full 12 minutes starting with room temperature water. The carafe only holds 8 cups. This maker is very noisy. It boils, hisses and jiggles while brewing. Water drips out of the seams of the top if it is filled to the 8 cup level while it is heating. I tested the coffee temperature immediately after brewing by pouring coffee directly in a ceramic mug. The temperature was 172F. I was a bit surprised that it was not hotter than that if it truly brews around 200F+. I will have to due further testing and watch some control factors more closely. I hope that it registers a bit higher than that.PROS: The automatic start helps to make up for the time of brewing if you simply can't wait the 12 minutes for the brew cycle to begin. Works Great, After Plastic Smell Dissipates
Good DesignThe design of this brewer was just what I was looking for: 8 cups, insulated carafe, reputable brand, full temperature (200 degrees F) brewing, and no "always-on" heating tank. Super fast and easy
I've tried other thermometers, but got frustrated waiting endlessly while they slowly ticked upward. I don't have that problem with the Thermapen. With the others, I spent too much time with my head in the oven (and the heat getting out) and it finally occurred to me that I'd be better off paying for a really good FAST thermometer that would work in a variety of settings. I bake bread and like to check the internal temperature of large loaves to ensure proper doneness, but don't much want a big hole in the bottom. The probe on the Thermapen is very slender so the hole is significantly smaller than when I've used the others.Another thing I like is that when you open the Thermapen, it's instant on, close it and it's off. The changeable battery is easily accessible when, and if, you need to change it, ensuring a very long life.One bonus for me is that I may be cooking a single serving of something so there isn't much space to insert a thermometer. Just about perfect
I have the prior model but the comments still apply.Very simply, there are two things to say about the Thermapen.1. A hundred bucks for a thermometer?!2. It's the best kitchen thermometer, with no competition.So, yes, $100 means that you need to be a serious cook to need this. If you're not, there are perfectly able "instant-read" thermometers for $10-20 and you should get one of those, try it in boiling water to confirm that it's accurate (it probably will be) and use it. It will be perfectly fine.But if you are a serious cook, you will appreciate that instant read for this product means under ten seconds (I think the new model is faster) but for the $15 ones, it means more like 30.This product is fast, dead-accurate, and has a tiny probe that lets you take pinpoint readings.You don't HAVE to have this. Unless you're like me, and you HAVE to have it.

Fast-charges the HTC Incredible
I use my Droid Incredible as my primary GPS car navigator, so I needed a car charger that could keep up with the power needs of Google Maps with the GPS running. The Belkin USB adapter says it puts out 1A, but my Incredible showed that is was only getting a trickle-charge (500 mA) from it, because the Belkin charger does not implement the latest USB charger standard (short the data pins for a fast charge).This charger shows up as an AC charger on my Incredible, and it is able to charge my phone even while I am using it for GPS navigation. Recommended for any newer phone that uses a micro-USB connector.

Make sure the water and ice from your refrigerator is as clean and fresh tasting as possible by replacing its water filter. This Whirlpool water filter is used in Whirlpool, KitchenAid, and Maytag side-by-side refrigerators with quarter-turn filter access in the base grille.

 

It's NSF-certified to reduce particulates (class II), lead, mercury, and more. (The contaminants or other substances removed or reduced by this water filter are not necessarily in all users' water.) While it effectively removes contaminants from your water and ice, this filter also lowers the taste and odor of chlorine while retaining beneficial fluoride.

Note that this water filter does not reduce the amount of cysts in your water.

For the highest quality water and ice, your refrigerator's water filter needs to be changed over a period of time as its effectiveness at cleaning the water is reduced. For optimal results, you should replace this refrigerator water filter every 6 months to ensure clean, safe drinking water and ice.

Your refrigerator will even remind you when to change its filter, turning on an indicator light found near the water dispenser. Changing the filter is easy--just locate the old filter, turn the filter one-quarter of a turn to remove and replace with the new filter.

Replacing Your Water Filter

For side-by-side refrigerators with quarter-turn filter access in the base grille, follow these instructions for replacing your filter:

1. Rotate the cap counterclockwise to a vertical position, then pull.
2. Remove the filter cap by sliding it right or left. Set aside cap. Discard old filter.
3. Remove the packaging and O-ring covers from the new filter. Slide the filter cap back onto the end. Align the ridge on the filter with the ridge on the cap to make certain it is centered.
4. Hold the assembled cap and filter unit with the handle in the vertical position and push the new filter cartridge into the opening of the base grille until it stops. Rotate the cartridge cap clockwise to a horizontal position.
5. Flush the water system until a total of 3 gallons (12 L) has been dispensed.

Great savings in the 3-pack
These are the standard filters used in many refrigerators like my Whirlpool. They filter all the water used in the ice maker and the in-door water dispenser just as you would expect them to do.The 3-pack of these is a great maoney saving costing only about $5 more than buying two of them individually.They only rate about a 4 in the star system because they never last as long as Whirlpool says they should. The owner's manual says about 5-6 months with the sort of use we put them to, and the "change me" light comes on at about the 5 month time, and the water flow through begins to diminish about the same time. But, changing the filter at the 4-month point keeps the water taste top notch. Waiting that extra month or so gives you water that isn't as clean tasting.Ah, well. At least you save money buying in bulk.
