One More Time...
For the final season of "Chuck", producers Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak faced a daunting dramatic challenge: how to generate new drama, comedy and romance for a great show. After all, at the end of season four, nice guy CIA agent Chuck Bartkowski (Zachary Levy) finally married his lovely CIA partner Sara Walker (Yvonne Strahovski), after protecting the birth of niece Clara to sister Ellie and brother-in-law Captain Awesome. Operation Bartkowski was officially ended, leaving Chuck, Sara, gruff NSA agent John Casey (Adam Baldwin), and Chuck's best friend Morgan (Joshua Gomez) without a mission. The solution: reshuffle the deck.Using money from Alexei Volkov, last season's leading villain, Chuck, Sara, Casey, and Morgan go into the private spy business, only to discover the competition can be quite fierce. Carrie-Anne Moss (Matrix) has a recurring role as the cutthroat leader of a rival firm, and as someone with a history, and maybe a future, with Casey. Morgan, who...

Endings and Beginnings
Don't worry; there'll be no spoilers here.Season 5 is the last TV season we'll have for Chuck. If you own seasons 1-4, you'll need 5 to complete the set. If you don't (yet) own those first seasons, I must ask why? Chuck gradually lost its ratings over the years, yet there is much to love in season 5, and in all 91 episodes. There are high points in every TV season: great guest stars like Bo Derek, Mark Hamill, and Danny Pudi were supplemented by arcs with Carrie-Ann Moss and Richard Burgi. There's a house with a white picket fence; trips to Miami, Vail, and Japan; and the Intersect (long filled with secrets) which has more secrets to tell. The canon (the backstory built with each episode) takes some hits in one particular episode, but it's still our Chuck. The two-hour series finale aired in the US last night. It's So Hard to Say Goodbye
This review is totally biased. I absolutely love the show and am a fan of Zach and Yvonne. The last episode left me sad because-well, it was the last episode.I'm giving this 5 stars for the sake of being a fan and because I haven't had a favorite show in soo many years. But I'll be honest with what I didn't like about this season:Cons: There was a somewhat annoying plot and I feel it didn't work well with all the other seasons (I won't spoil with who it was, so I'll keep it vague). It just didn't make sense that someone received it and barely qualifies as an agent. In my opinion, most of the 5th season, like others said, just didn't have that connection the other 4 had.Overall though, winning my heart from the Pilot episode, the 5th Season is a must buy. You have to know how it all ends. Towards that last few episodes- you start to see how hard it was on the actors and actresses to close off this fantastic show. The chemistry with...

Season Four, you had me at sexting
Every new fall season, there's this fear that my favorite TV shows wouldn't be on the roster. With CHUCK getting the nod for a fifth and final season, there's a sigh of relief. It's very hard for me to be impartial and critique this show. And I won't even try, really. But, okay, maybe I'll mention that perhaps CHUCK's getting only one more season may be a good thing. In Season 4, there's been a creeping sense of familiarity, a nagging worry that maybe, just maybe, the show's slowing down some. It's still a cool premise, hapless nerd secretly a brilliant spy. And the cast still demonstrates that banging chemistry. But the central tension always was in Chuck and Sarah's relationship. Once they formally became a couple in Season 3, I was happy as pigs in mud but also concerned about where the show would go from here on out, what with that central conflict being resolved. Remember what happened to MOONLIGHTING once David and Maddy hooked up?But CHUCK isn't all about...

All in the Family...
In its surprisingly good fourth season, "Chuck" continues its highly entertaining blend of drama, comedy, and romance. Nice guy computer nerd and newly minted CIA agent Chuck Bartkowski (Zachary Levi) is finally teamed, both personally and professionally, with the lovely and deadly CIA agent Sara Walker (Yvonne Strahovski). At the beginning of Season Four, Chuck and best buddy Morgan (Joshua Gomez) search for Chuck's long missing mother Mary Bartkowski (extended cameo by Linda Hamilton), thought to be a rogue agent working for the villainous international arms dealer Alexei Volkov (a superbly over-the-top Timothy Dalton). In a multi-episode sequence, Chuck, Morgan, Sara and the famously gruff NSA agent John Casey (Adam Baldwin) track and eventually confront Mary Bartkowski and Volkov. Mary's loyalties are something of a mystery, especially after she deprives Chuck of the use of the Intersect embedded in his brain, which provides him with his spy skills.Season...

Can't wait for the Blu Ray!
This is a bit premature since we are still in the middle of season 4, but we record each episode and watch it multiple times. Chuck is one of the few shows that the entire family must watch together, and we have a strange demographic in that there are 3 girls and one guy (me) in our viewing family. I thought Chuck might be a little too "boy-oriented" with the beautiful Yvonne Strahovski and Sarah Lancaster, but the ladies in the family love the entire cast and absolutely swoon over Zachary Levi, Adam Baldwin and Ryan McPartlin. The episodes might stretch reality a bit, but are great fun. One reviewer said that Chuck did not fit into a contemporary television genre while I would suggest that Chuck might be described as a cross between Charlie's Angels (which is spoofed in a Season 4 episode) and Get Smart. With the stunning cast members, HD and Blu Ray are the best ways to enjoy Chuck.

Operation Wedded Bliss: will Chuck and Sarah finally become Mr. and Mrs. Superspy? Season Four's 24 laugh- and action-filled episodes include the duo's romance from proposal to planning to the big day. Yes, Chuck's in love, but he has more than romance (and the Intersect) on his mind. His mom comes in from the cold, escaping the evil control of an international arms dealer to become part of the Nerd Herder-turned-spy's life - and making it even tougher for Chuck to keep his professional and personal worlds separate. On some days, Chuck outwits assassins and out-martial-arts hordes of black-clad bad guys. On others, he pursues Sarah and prepares to become a doting uncle. On most days, he does it all! In the Chuck Season 4 DVD, "Chuck" continues its highly entertaining blend of drama, comedy, and romance. Nice guy computer nerd and newly minted CIA agent Chuck Bartkowski (Zachary Levi) is finally teamed, both personally and professionally, with the lovely and deadly CIA agent Sara Walker (Yvonne Strahovski). At the beginning of the Chuck Season 4 DVD, Chuck and best buddy Morgan (Joshua Gomez) search for Chuck's long missing mother Mary Bartkowski (extended cameo by Linda Hamilton), thought to be a rogue agent working for the villainous international arms dealer Alexei Volkov (a superbly over-the-top Timothy Dalton). In a multi-episode sequence, Chuck, Morgan, Sara and the famously gruff NSA agent John Casey (Adam Baldwin) track and eventually confront Mary Bartkowski and Volkov. Mary's loyalties are something of a mystery, especially after she deprives Chuck of the use of the Intersect embedded in his brain, which provides him with his spy skills. Season Four was originally scheduled for 13 episodes, before being extended to a full season. Lucky fans get two season finales. In the first, Team Bartkowski tries to protect Chuck's sister Ellie from the Volkov gang, as she prepares to give birth to her first child with husband Captain Awesome, and as Chuck seeks a quiet moment to propose to the evasive Sara. In the second, Chuck and Sara must escape the revenge of the Volkov family long enough to bring off their own wedding. The steam could easily have gone out of the series after Chuck and Sara finally got together, but the creative team of Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak keeps finding ways to keep it funny and interesting. Any number of boomer TV series and movie dramas get hilariously ripped off this season, while a parallel storyline has Casey and Morgan as mismatched house mates and agent partners, with Morgan trying to keep secret his relationship with Casey's daughter Alex. an absolutely awesome show...keep Chuck on air!!!
i found out about Chuck through mindlessly trauling through the tv shows available in itunes australia. i read a couple of the reviews, took a punt with my hard earned 3 bob & bought the 1st 3 episodes including the pilot. i don't buy dvds of tv shows but i made an exception with Chuck after watching said 3 episodes & have not regretted it in the slightest, especially as you need to have cable to watch Chuck here in sydney.put simply, it is the best bloody thing on the box & i watch a lot of box. my reasons are threefold: great ensemble cast who play well thought out characters, superb story lines with just enough plot twists to keep viewers on the edge of their seats but not alienate new fans &, above all, the perfect combination of action, drama & comedy. yes, folks, i've turned into a Chuckoholic...it's just that good.i've had to make do with watching season 3 on-line like many fans outside the US & can happily say the show's producers, josh schwartz & chris...

Chuck versus The Catch-22...
In its superb third season, "Chuck" continues its highly entertaining blend of drama, comedy, and romance. At Season Two's end, nice guy computer nerd and CIA asset Chuck Bartowski (Zachary Levi) uploaded into his own brain a new, improved Intersect which not only restored his ability to "flash" on espionage information, it also provided access to new skills. As he told his CIA handler Sara Walker (Yvonne Strahovski) and her NSA partner John Casey (Adam Baldwin) at the time, "Guys, I know Kung Fu."In Season Three, Chuck, no longer an accidental tourist in the espionage world, embarks on a bumpy, uncertain journey to becoming a full-fledged spy. This journey involves a painful Catch-22. Chuck must succeed in becoming a spy to stay close to Sara Walker, his erstwhile bodyguard and romantic interest, but each step towards spyhood seems to take him further away from the decent, honest guy that Sara secretly cherishes. At the beginning of Season Three, Chuck...

A fantastic series!
I just discovered Chuck during Season 3 and since then I've been completely in love with the series. I immediately ordered seasons 1 and 2 on DVD so I could catch up on all the backstory and have watched both seasons multiple times since receiving the DVDs. The finale of Season 2 made for a great start to season 3 and it has been sheer brilliance from there. Some of my absolute favorite episodes in the entire series have been in Season 3 (such as Chuck vs. The Other Guy and Chuck vs. The Honeymooners). The writers and actors are of equal brilliance in this show - it comes together perfectly with an amazing blend of drama, comedy and romance. I am so excited to see what the final few episodes of Season 3 will bring and, of course, I can't wait for Season 4 to begin. I would (and have!) recommend this series... and this season... to anyone and everyone! You won't be sorry. Enjoy!

The Nerd Herder Who Loved Me
NBC's CHUCK is such a welcome surprise and one of the best and funniest TV shows I've seen in a while, something which normally is an omen for immediate cancellation (but, thankfully, NBC picked it up for the full season). CHUCK achieves that heady mix of humor, action, espionage, and even a dash of romance (or pining, to be more exact). And it'll have you rooting for the nerd hero Chuck Bartowski, the physically hapless but nonetheless invaluable new member of the U.S. secret agent fraternity. Whereas, before, Chuck was someone who for thrills lived life vicariously thru video games and films, he's all of a sudden forced to cope with experiencing the very intense real thing.Several SPOILERS follow. The 411 on the premise and plot: A rogue CIA agent, just before being killed, downloads a wealth of top secret government files into the brain of his old college roommate Chuck Bartowski, a seemingly disastrous choice at first blush. Chuck is a social misfit, a...

Action, Comedy, Romance, Intrigue.... I Can Go On If You Want
Chuck Bartowski's (Zachary Levi) life was going no where fast. True, he is head of the Nerd Herd at his local Buy More. But he lives with his sister Ellie (Sarah Lancaster) and her boyfriend Devon (aka Captain Awesome, played by Ryan McPartlin). His best friend is Morgan (Joshua Gomez), a fellow nerd who also works at Buy More. But things change drastically when Chuck gets an e-mail from former friend Bryce Larkin. The e-mail contains all the files of the intersect, the complete intelligence files of both the CIA and the NSA. And, to make things more exciting, Bryce has destroyed the original files. All the information gets downloaded into Chuck's brain, making him a highly valuable government secret. So valuable that he has two bodyguards, Sarah Walker (Yvonne Strahovski), a CIA agent who pretends to be Chuck's girlfriend, and John Casey (Adam Baldwin), a NSA who moves in next door to Chuck and takes a job at Buy More.Whenever Chuck sees...

Product Description

Chuck Bartowski, ace computer geek at the BuyMore, is not in his right mind. That’s a good thing. Ever since he unwittingly downloaded stolen government secrets into his brain, action, excitement and a cool secret- agent girlfriend have entered his life. It’s a bad thing, too. Because now Chuck is in danger 24/7. Executive producers Josh Schwartz (The OC, Gossip Girl) and McG (Charlie’s Angels, We Are Marshall) merge techno-gadgetry, martial-arts smackdowns, narrow escapes and gorgeous spies in short shorts into this action comedy about a millennium Everyguy. It’s “Get Smart for a 24 world” (Troy Patterson, SLATE). Top to learn more

An entertaining blend of action and comedy, Chuck centers on a title character (Zachary Levi) who's a mild-mannered nerd and Stanford dropout working tech support at a Los Angeles Buy More (a barely veiled Best Buy) when his former college roommate turned rogue CIA agent e-mails him a virus that implants the entire U.S. intelligence network into his brain. Obviously that makes him a prime target, so he falls under the protection of two rival agents, Sarah Walker of the CIA (Yvonne Strahovski) and John Casey of the National Security Administration (Adam Baldwin), whose job is not only to keep the resource out of enemy hands but also to use his unique gift to help them identify and eliminate threats to national security.

In addition to the espionage and humor, the show is about relationships. There's Chuck and his best friend, Morgan (Joshua Gomez), not to mention the rest of the Buy More crew (Vik Sahay, Scott Krinsky, C.S. Lee, Mark Christopher Lawrence). There's Chuck and his sister, Ellie (Sarah Lancaster), and her boyfriend (Ryan McPartlin), whose favorite word gives him the nickname "Captain Awesome." And then there's Chuck and Sarah, who play boyfriend and girlfriend as their cover, but whose relationship might not be purely professional or fictional. Levi is charming in the title role, Baldwin is not too far off from his Firefly character of Jayne (that's a good thing), and the tough-yet-tender Strahovski was a breakout star during the show's opening season on NBC in 2007-08. Much like The X-Files' Gillian Anderson became the thinking man's crush, Strahovski became a fantasy for nerds everywhere, especially after appearing in the famous Princess Leia slavegirl outfit. Also appearing in season 1: Gwendoline Yeo as a Lucy-Liu-lookalike spy, Matthew Bomer as Bryce Larkin, Rachel Bilson as Chuck's sandwich-making love interest, and Ivana Milecivic as Casey's former flame. --David Horiuchi Top to learn more

One of the better new series of the strike-shortened 2007-2008 season
CHUCK did the one thing that any good series needs to do: it managed to get better as it went along. To enjoy it one has to be able to suspend quite a bit of disbelief. One has to imagine it somehow possible for someone to have the entire contents of the CIA computer database downloaded into the brain of a single human being. One further has to imagine that this person would "flash" on seeing people, objects, names, or whatever, recognizing a series of connections that would escape any other person. Finally, you have to accept that this individual would continue to work in their poorly paid job at Buy More while his advisors from the CIA and the NSA would work either alongside him in Buy More or nearby in a wiener fast foot joint. A plausible premise? Of course not! But if you cut it a lot of slack it provides one heck of a fun ride. Why would one cut it slack? Well, first and foremost because Zachary Levi is delightful in the title role. As Chuck, Levi is able to...

He's the Secret; She's the Agent...
In its superb second season, NBC's "Chuck" offers a more fully developed and unique blend of comedy, action, and romance. Chuck Bartkowski continues his double life: slacker computer nerd at an LA big box electronics store by day and inept government agent by night, thanks to the secret government database called the Intersect emplanted in his brain. Beautiful CIA agent Sarah Walker is Chuck's handler and bodyguard, with a cover as his girlfriend. Hardnosed NSA assassin Major John Casey teams with Walker to track Chuck's safety 24 hours a day and to pursue the bad guys the Intersect enables Chuck to identify. This second season advances several themes over the course of the year. The impromptu team of Walker, Casey, and Bartkowski get increasingly difficult assignments to stop various villains and foil their nefarious plots, in which the untrained Chuck begins to demonstrate, often hilariously, the potential to muddle through as an agent.A second theme is...

Easily one of the most delightful shows on TV
For me watching CHUCK at the beginning of each week increasingly became one of the high points of my TV watching week. If you can get past the rather silly premise for the show (and if you can, you have a real treat in store), that someone was able to have the entire contents of the CIA mainframe downloaded in his brain, you will discover one of the most entertaining and likable casts on TV. If you don't know CHUCK but are familiar with Josh Schwartz's previous series THE O.C., CHUCK is what that show would have been if you had isolated the Seth/Summer part of the show and made Seth a spy (I've read that Adam Brody, who played Seth, was originally asked to play Chuck, and Summer herself made an appearance in Season One as a potential love interest for our hero). Schwartz saved the Ryan/Marissa/Taylor part for GOSSIP GIRL. If the latter is all about the cool and hip, CHUCK is all about nerds and their universe. If the girls on wear their Jimmy Choos, Chuck wears Chuck T's...

My Favorite Show on the Air
Chuck is easily my favorite show on the air right now (and I love my television). Every episode leaves me desperate for more, and the second season has been especially excellent. They haven't been afraid of breaking the formula and actually letting things develop and change. That's one of the things that annoys me most about other shows -- writers show you what they want you to want and then draw that out for seasons and seasons on end. Bleh. But the writers of Chuck haven't and as such it is superb. So, check it out. If you like comedy, romance, action, spies, great writing, and great acting, then you'll love Chuck.
