Great "little" camera
Customer Video Review Length:: 3:25 MinsThis thing is great. I tried the Oregon Scientific ACT3K and the picture quality of the Muvi is far better.The Veho folks aren't doing us or themselves any favors by shipping it with such a sub-standard memory card though. At first I was slightly disappointed until I put in a 4Gb class 2 MicroSDHC card I had lying around. What an improvement. I've got a couple 8Gb class 6 cards on the way so I should be all set.Some things to note:1. Files are limited to 30 minutes at which time it will start a new file.2. For some reason all files are dated 12/31/2000 12:00 AM3. Files are huge. The 3:25 min. video I submitted was edited in Movie Maker and saved as a WMV at 2mbps and is 52Mb. The original raw 5 minute AVI file at 64kbps was 175 mb.4. The audio is awful but not really an issue for me.The edited video in WMV was as close as I could get to the original. You won't find one this tiny for this price with this quality
I've bought 3 or 4 cameras of this type for use at work. I've bought 2 different helmet cameras that worked kind of okay, but this one knocks it out of the park. The case is built like a tank, it's very easy to use. The voice activated function is great. I'm using an 8gb chip in mine, so I can't talk about the quality problems I've heard about when using the 2gig chip that ships. I've used it the past couple days testing it by using the clip mount to clip it under my rear view mirror facing forward and I can tell you there are no police dashboard cameras that can beat the video. The camera focuses perfectly through the windshield and the angle of view is wide enough to capture a perfect scene. Low light is great, used it at a shooting range yesterday and once I figured out the proper placement the videos were great even in reduced lighting. If you need a tiny camera with great quality this is the one. My one complaint was when I installed the driver disk I began getting com errors...

Airborne uses.....
Purchased one of these and promptly rigged it up on the tiedown mount of an RV8 aircraft and flew it thru barrel rolls and high speed (200mph+) passes at airport. Camera did a very good job, only a slight pause for some unexplainable, reason (very slight). Handled the lighting variables in good shape. Excellent for the cost, and this is coming from a retired USAF Motion Picture Cameraman who has done several kinds of these applications on higher speed aircraft.

Customer Video Review Length:: 2:12 MinsI have this DVR for 4 days.The video quality is not that bad at this price. Please see my videos.I use the following setting: SxGA(HD), 2 minutes file length, Transcend 8GB SDHC card (class 6). There are 6 seconds gap between the files. Something will happen in 6 seconds that you may miss.37 files X 2 min = 74 min; 7 GB memory used.The day time video is shaking a lot because my wife held it due to the suction cup could not stick on the windshield more than 15 seconds. I though it maybe the windshield too cold (36 degree F) so I tried it on the dress mirror at home with different methods - clean both side, moisture the cup with water, with alcohol. It always falls down in 15 seconds.I took out my Gamin GPS suction cup and tie the DVR on it with rubber band. Gamin suction cup sticks on the windshield like glued on it even in the evening with colder weather and raining time.I took the night video with the...

Not bad for it's price
Using this item for 2 weeks. It creates new files any 2, 5 or 15 minutes of recording (you can choose). It has 3 quality modes (VGA, DL, SxGA(HD)). Tried sxga, but the fps amount is not enough and the picture is intermittent, not comfortable to watch.VGA has too low resolution but movement is smooth. The best choice for me became DL mode.Picture quality is not impressive. You can recognize the licence plate number of the cars only near you. And it's almost impossible to do in the night on moving cars. Night vision is pretty good, but the headlights of oncoming cars create large white holes on the picture. The same with the stop lights of the cars in front of you.Plastic is very low quality, but I didn't expect more for this price.The dashboard mount works perfect, you just have to make the surface wet a little, and it will hold like with glue.Not bad device but I'd like it to have better picture quality.

I have been using my F198 for a few days now...In VGA mode it takes a decent picture. This mode is good enough to see stop lights & the cars in the field of view. The wide angle lense provides a very good picture of what is going on, but there is some loss of clarity. You can read the licence plate of cars stoped directly in front of you, and with some time you might pick up a letter/number at a time for moving cars. It is much like a cell phone cam & shows cars pulling in your lane, or crossing the light well.I set the motion detect mode on. At first it was not active at the time I started recording, but then I stopped the car - powering the F198 down & when I powered back up, it was in motion detect mode. The mode is not sensitive enough & is not acceptable for use when driving, so I advise leaving motion detect mode off.At VGA resolution, it could record three 15 minute clips on 2 Gb. Then it deletes the oldest file when creating a new...

does it's job
I am a truck driver and recently a man accused me of running over his dog,I did not however it did convince me of trying a dash cam.I bought this one because of price to try as a trial.To my surprise it does a lot more than I imagined.I stuck it on my windshield up in the high middle and plugged it in to the cig lighter.2 weeks went by and a window tinting car cut me off in traffic.If you go to my youtube you can see how awesome this cam is....PLUS the vid on youtube is my phone recording off my laptop...I'm not smart enough and have not the software to edit videos.The programming is a little funky on the cam,like setting the time and date,but if you play with it for awhile you will figure it out.The micro speaker play back is scratchy until you play back on your computer and as you can hear it is very adequate.I put a 2 g mem. card in and carry a spare now in case I need to save something...it's worth it! This cam far and above does what I need.I already have saved vids of 2 more...

Just purchased
I just received this camera yesterday. I also bought a 16 gb memory card for it. Installed the battery and after a minute figured out how to configure it using the menu. For the price it is fairly well constructed. The mount is excellent. It has a 270 degree lense which captures a wide field of view. I placed it on my windshield easily enough. Using the power cord to power the device makes it turn on and record when I start the car. There is very little vibration coming through the mount to distort the video. I use the 640x480 size because it will be the most stable and smallest file size. Basically it does exactly what I expected it to do and the price cannot be beat. I previously had purchased a mount so I could use my Flip video recorder but that was a hassle. This camera is installed and runs automatically so I don't have to fool with it anymore. It is cheap insurance to document what happens in front of your car. I will be buying another one for my wifes car. I recommend this...

Works Good.
If you're looking for an inexpensive camera that works good, try this out. I haven't had one problem with this working incorrectly.Issues I have with it (but for the price, is just fine...):Picture isn't the greatest. It isn't real clear. If you're using this to read road signs or license plates, forget it. If you're using it to show that there are in fact other cars or large objects, it is just fine.I've noticed that switching into the 720p mode, it does jump a little bit. It isn't bad though, just slightly noticeable.The infrared for nighttime use isn't the greatest either. It shows picture great to the front of the hood and then it loses all IR because of the headlights.It does feel a little cheap, but again, for the price, not bad.I have used this for a couple of weeks now. This car dvr/camera is great. Easy set up, and with sd card is easy to move between pc and unit. Let me tell you, the video image quality is Fan-FREAKIN-tastic! NO @%#! I have a $3500 HD professional video cam and this is stiff competition for it. Aside from the slight "fish eye" effect its perfect speed,aperature,exposure is very professional. Great Car Dash DVR
I just got this DVR and it's everything it's advertised to be. It's hi def, the HDMI port actually works and you can also playback from the lcd screen. I work during the day as a driver and that's what I use it for so I haven't gotten a chance to check out how it performs during night but when I do I will update my review. The audio is very clear and so is the optics, I can see most license plates. The one drawback in my opinion is that the screen, well the unit itself is very small but if that's not an issue for you, you should definately buy this DVR.

Impressive video quality (HD H.264 format) for the price!
I was really surprised and impressed when I reviewed my first round of recordings. The HD quality for this price is exceptional. Overall, this is a great solution for those who want a video system in your car on a budget. If you were able to turn off the microphone and screen, battery life would be greatly improved, so I hope a future Firmware update may offer this solution. I also wish that you could connect an external microphone to this camera so you could record outdoor sounds instead of the interior. Could be Better
In general terms, the concept of a dash cam is a very good one. It could save you money and red tape in the event of an accident when the other party misrepresents the facts.This possibility is what prompted my purchase in the first place after just such an unfortunate experience in our family.This camera will clearly show traffic light colors as you pass through an intersection. I will agree with the other comments on this item. The price is right and when it works, it works in an acceptable manner. But I also have experienced times when the blue light on the back flickers and is indicating a recording session, only to return home to find nothing was recorded. In my case, batteries are not at fault since I have never used the unit with batteries. I always plug it into the lighter.One point not mentioned here, whenever you are headed into the sun as in the early morning eastbound or late afternoon westbound, the camera is worthless...
