Entertaining
Okay, true confession. I really like this series. Yeah, I know it's a guy show, and it can be gruesome, so it is kind of a `guilty pleasure' but I really enjoy the combat simulations and who would win if: for example a Spartan were to fight a ninja. I particularly like it when the opponents are evenly matched or I particularly like one of the competitors. The Shaolin have been my favorite so far. The monks were classy, honorable and peaceful and yet also quite deadly.The basic premise of this show is to compare the chosen weapons of each group, and then compare them to another group of warriors. So you might get the IRA- for instance- vs Al Quaeda or The Mafia vs. The Yakuza. Weapons experts discuss the various weapons used and how much damage they might do in combat. They test this using dummies, blocks of wood, pig carcasses or other targets. The matchups can be a bit odd, sometimes spanning centuries, and so it doesn't always seem entirely fair, but It is interesting...

Not Bushido Blade Two, but still pretty awesome
I bought this game on an impulse at Target. I noticed that on the back it mentioned that ninjas could fight pirates, Spartans could fight apache warriors, etc. I mentioned this to my girlfriend. When she said "hey, that sounds pretty sweet, you should get it so we can play," I thought...what the hell.I have to say, this game is 30 dollars well spent. The battles are fast and furious, sometimes only four to five seconds long. Hit, parry, shield bash, grapple, stab to the chest or throw the guy off the ledge. Fight's over. The combos are very easy for any experienced gamer and the game play is simple enough that my non-gamer girlfriend figured out the controls in about 10 minutes.On the hardest difficultly level, you'll find yourself throwing your controller at your couch (at least until you figure out the combos). I like my fighting games in the vein of Bushido Blade, where one hit kills and blood goes a'flyin' when people get slashed. This game is...

Don't Buy Will Not Work Normally
I purchased this game for my grandson and it arrived on time. He tried to play it and it just goes back to your games list (will not work). I then tried it on a different xbox with the same result. Game still refuses to load , defaults back to my games list on xbox. I then went to xbox forums to check and see if others had reported this problem and they had reported the exact same problem. Save your money, the game simply will not load normally. It takes you to the my games menu and you have to select components from that menu before you can eve get it working.

Very nice but not great.
This is a pretty nice collection of Taker's matches. I already own three of them, but hey out of so many matches that is not too bad.I will say that I wish there were some Big Evil or American badass era mathes on here. I think WWE is protecting his gimmick here, and they don't want to ruin the illusion for the younger kids who buy this set.He certainly had alot of good and "deadly" matches from 2000-2003 that I would have liked on here.My last gripe is I want WWE to make all new dvd's from here on out available on Blu Ray. Even though only the last three matches on here were shot with an HD camere, all the matches will benefit from this. I lovee WWE in HD, and I want more of their great Blu Rays!Anyway this is quite nice, but I simply can not wait till Taker finnaly gets a nice long ducumentary treatment like Shawn Michaels: Heartbreak and Triumph. That will be so epic!

I understand manufacturing DVDs and cases is not an overnight process. Quite honestly, Deadliest Warrior will be most enjoyed by gamers who cannot understand what a true Fighting Game entails. Especially given the game’s amount of recycled content, slapping both versions and all characters together into some sort of Deadliest Warrior: Armageddon could not have been a difficult endeavor. Were hinting at. To anyone who has not played a Deadliest Warrior game, it’s basically Bushido Blade. But to compare the Deadliest Warrior games on the same level is borderline insulting. Second, a diehard fan of the Deadliest Warrior franchise needs this combo to complete his collection.

Aside from getting all of the original XBLA DLC that was sold separately for the initial game releases you also get 30 new weapons, a bonus dvd with never-before-seen "Deadliest Warrior" television shows, and a new Graveyard location. 'Deadliest Warrior: Ancient Combat" is a disc-based compilation made up of 'Deadliest Warrior the Game', and 'Deadliest Warrior: Legends'. The first game, 'Deadliest Warrior the Game' allowed players to control a variety of warriors including a ninja, samurai, pirate, monk, a centurion as well as a handful of other historic warriors. The first game in the series was titled "Deadliest Warrior the Game". 'Deadliest Warrior' scientifically answered some fantasy based "What if. " questions pertaining to imaginary conflicts between ancient warriors of different eras, and fighting backgrounds. One thing that needs to be mentioned is that 'Deadliest Warrior: Ancient Combat' does not load like a regular retail game. The second game, 'Deadliest Warriors: Legend' was an improvement on the first in that it offered new less generic fighters (Joan of Arc, Vlad the Impaler, Shaka Zulu. I was extremely excited about getting "Deadliest Warrior: Ancient Combat" for review. 'Deadliest Warrior' was originally a television series that aired on 'SPIKE', a cable channel known for the more manly shows. It meant I was literally stepping up my game from doing reviews on XBLIG, and XBLA titles to doing retail game reviews.

But compared to a lot of the other fighting games out there, unfortunately, these games really have trouble stacking up. Although definitely different, fighting fans that aren’t familiar with the show will have a lot of trouble getting into these... SUMMARY: Fans of the SpikeTV show will enjoy having a chance to relive some of the battles they’ve seen on TV and the bonus DVD is nice, but when compared to other entries in the fighting genre, the Deadliest Warrior So, when all is said and done, Deadliest Warrior: Ancient Combat is a great bang for your buck if you’re a fan of the franchise, can look past the technical shortcomings, and didn’t get these games online already, but if you’re just a diehard...
