A wonderfully full-featured camera at an unbeatable price
I've had the T1i for about almost week now and after some extensive use, here are my thoughts:1. 15.1 megapixel sensor. Yes, the high megapixel count is impressive, but keep in mind that, as you approach higher resolutions, you need to ensure the lens on the SLR can resolve that much detail. Sadly, the included 18-55mm IS lens is functional, but the high resolution really shows the so-so quality of the lens. Even if taken at the proper focus, pictures can appear soft with this kit lens. Shots I have taken with Canon EF-S 17-85mm and EF 70-200mm L lenses are crisp. I don't have any gripes on image quality. There are some issues with noise on the higher ISOs that don't seem to show up on the Nikon digitals, but overall, the quality is amazing for the price. Skin tones, textures, colors are reproduced very accurately.2. Digic 4. The Digic 4 processor appears to process/save the 15 megapixel images in the same time (if not faster) than the Digic III processor on...

First hands on experience...Very positive!
Here's a quick, first impressions (from hands on shooting) of the Rebel T1i. Although we'll need more scientific examinations to determine ultimate image quality and usability, I'll try to give a hint into the camera's potential.I'll not go in to any real detail on the kit lens, which has been well reviewed. Let's just agree that $100 for a good quality IS (image stabalized) lens is a very reasonable value it you don't have another option. There are no obvious reasons this kit lens should make or break your choice of this camera over a competitor's.Styling and build wise, the T1i is an XSi made over, which is not a bad thing. Some found that camera to be a bit on the small size for their hands, or a bit lacking in weight, but most like the size and weight (include me). It uses the same, proven battery and accessories of the XSi. I've already used some generic batteries that worked well in an XSi, with similar good results, but I do not want to lump all...

The Canon EOS Rebel T1i is the 6th generation of Canon's popular entry-level DSLR camera series and it improves upon earlier Rebels by incorporating many features that up till now could only be found on Canon's pricier mid-level DSLRs. Among the Rebel T1i's key attributes are a 15.1Mp CMOS sensor (similar to the sensor found in the EOS 50D) for detailed, full volume prints, Live View for accurate pre-focusing and editing, continuous burst-rates of up to 3.4 fps, a DIGIC 4 image processor, and a scratch and glare-resistant high-resolution (920,000-dot) 3" Clear View LCD that allows for easy 100% image viewing from angles up to 170 off-center from the screen.

The big news however is the Rebel T1i's ability to record a choice of full HD 1080p, 720p, and VGA video capture, which places it among the few DSLRs currently available that can capture true high-resolution video that beats or meets the image quality of far costlier pro camcorders.

To help reduce retouching time the Rebel T1i features an EOS Integrated Cleaning System that combats dust through the use of high-frequency vibrations that shake dust loose from the sensor's front-mounted IR filter every time you power up and power down. There are also anti-static coatings on the low-pass filter to keep it shmutz-free, and a body cap designed not to 'shed' particles that can possibly find their way into the mirror chamber.

To better enable successful imaging under the most challenging of lighting conditions, the camera's DIGIC 4 Image Processor allows you to set the ISO rating from ISO 100 through 3200 in standard mode and from 6400 to 12,800 in expanded mode. Once the 9-point wide-area AF system (with cross-type center point) nails the focus you can fire up to 3.4 fps for up to 170 exposures allowing, allowing you the option of capturing longer image sequences.

Great bang for your buck!
This is a well worth it purchase if you own the XSi... heck - whatever camera you own I really recommend that you see if you can find a combination of charger/battery from this company. While the battery they send you doesn't have the expansive life that the Canon battery has, it certainly holds its own and doesn't peter out for a fair while. I shot fairly continuously while on vacation, and the battery lasted me a solid week before I decided to swap it out.The charger works quite well... it took me a moment or two to figure out how to seat the battery correctly in it, but once I figured that out it was smooth sailing.Overall, the product is a steal for this price!

A Great Deal
Recently I somehow managed to displace the battery charger for my , and when I contacted local camera stores in search of replacement I was shocked with the price - I was told that it would cost $60. I decided to check out if they had that or similar products on Amazon, and sure enough I found plenty of options. I was equally surprised to find a few chargers, such as this one, that cost only a few $$. Inexpensive and works perfectly
My daughter misplaced her Canon EOS Rebel T1 digital camera battery charger, so after looking at a few options on Amazon I elected to go with this unit because it looked compact, appeared to be the right choice, and was very inexpensive compared with some other options. At a minimum, if it hadn't worked out it would not have been a costly mistake. As it is, it works perfectly.

Can't believe that someone can make and sell a product less than $2.00 and still make a profit. I was skeptical but this is the real deal, works in the wall socket and with the dc adapter for the truck. Have charged Canon and aftermarket batteries just fine. I am a very casual photographer and to be honest I have very little experience with photography in general. I have had almost no experience with aperture or ISO. I bought the Canon EOS Rebel T1i/500D for Dummies simply because I wanted to learn more tricks and tips about the camera as well as how to change the camera settings. I knew that I wouldn't get the information I wanted, or possibly needed, out of just the user manual that came with the camera. This "For Dummies" book is my first foray into these types of self-help books and I have been very pleasantly surprised. This book is extremely well written and is most definitely not written in a condescending way treating the reader as if that person is a child. I found this book very easy to follow and it handled very complex information in a way that can be understood and practised by the user. Great book, but not as funny as other "Dummies" books
This is a great book for anyone who owns a Canon Rebel T1i/500D, especially if this is your first DSLR. I just bought my T1i at the beginning of June. The manual, while good, left me confused in a number of ways. This book gave me the info I needed, along with some great pictorial examples, to really let me learn to use my camera. While I doubt I will ever be able to use everything the author taught, I will start to use a lot of the advanced features that I might otherwise have put off using. I am already playing with the aperture settings and changing the ISO.My only complaint is that this book is not as funny as the other books in the "Dummies" series. I have gotten used to a certain level of humor that just was not present more than a couple of times. The cartoons were funny, but there were fewer of them than there used to be. I can remember when every chapter of the book had a cartoon. (Ah well.)Over all this was a great book. I read it cover to cover and...

If you have big hands, I can see this being a very difficult camera to use over an extended period of time. Canon and Amazon are correctly identifying that the T1i maxes out at ISO 3200.
