Windproof Jacket!
I got this jacket as a birthday gift from my parents last month. This also happened to be my first North Face product so I didn't know what to expect from it other than the fact that it's so darn popular with kids and adults alike. I tried it in the store before they bought it and I started sweating. It's that warm. LOL. I like that it's not bulky at all and can handle temperatures as low as 42 deg and can feel comfortable all the way up to the low 60s. Around the low 30s, I used a sweatshirt for added warmth. But It feels comfortable without any extra layer when you are doing something active outdoors in the cold. I recently tried using this as an extra layer to my new NF Apex Paradigm jacket when we hit temps below freezing. Because it's so light, it really didn't add too much bulk to the Paradigm jacket. For active outdoor activities in the cold weather with effective wind protection, I would really recommend this jacket. I hope it last a few years because I love the way...

Best sport soft-jacket
It's excellent and fits perfectly. I have uncommon long sleeves, I'm 6'3" and it's just great for me.It's obviously a light jacket but keeps you out of cold (even under a 42° night) weather and windy conditions.The casual, yet formal look is great for many dress codes and won't let you down on your looks; like similar jackets would.Just a recommendation: keep it clean because you wouldn't want it to be apart from you even for a quick wash.

Perfect Softshell
I picked up this jacket for use in San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area (Lake Tahoe included). I use this jacket for everything. It is often cloudy/drizzly/cold in SF and this jacket deals with it all. I have not tried in heavy rain, but in drizzly conditions, the DWR treatment definitely makes small drops bead right off. It also has a nice fleece-like liner inside and keeps me really warm down to 40 degrees or so. In Tahoe, I have used this with a shirt or base layer, mid later fleece, and then this jacket. I don' get clod too easily but in temps 20's - 30's I felt great (with some gloves and a beanie of course). I have not tried it skiing yet because I snowboard and to be honest it wouldn't be quite large enough (I like baggier snowboard clothing). But I have seen people who wear softshells skiing all the time. I also use this when I go to work and want a jacket that dresses up nice. With slacks, nice shoes, and a button up it looks great. I love this jacket!
I'm obsessed with the North Face brand! I recommend this jacket to the people that think the Denali is too expensive. Price wise, this is the better deal. The denali is a bit warmer, but this is the same 300 weight fleece as the denali, just without the panels. I also like how this jacket is more tailored to my body. I'm 5'1, 115 pounds and a small is a little roomie. This jacket is cut more tapered to the body. It is also more comfortable than the denali because it doesn't have the panels. It's easier to move around in. I honestly recommend this jacket to anyone interested in The North Face denali, but don't like the hefty price tag. This is easily half the price and not MUCH less warm.

Wonderful rain parka
I purchased this for a backpacking trip to Costa Rica in a season of unpredicatable weather and mulitple climates. It held up incredibly well after being dragged in the mud and rain and sand. It kept me cool in the hot, wet areas and warmer up in the mountains in the rain and cloud forests. It is form fitting in all the right ways but leaves room to be pulled over a small backpack or water pack without discomfort. I'm 5'2 and not skinny and need plenty of room up top but the sizing was surprisingly true and it was really very comfortable to wear. I have a short torso but on someone with a longer torso it has enough fabric to be a perfect length. It is of great quality and the seams were flawless for me. Most importantly, for my purposes, it will fold or bundle or just squash up to fit in a small bag, purse or backpack when you don't need it and it's very lightweight and won't add to the weight of whatever travel you might be on. Half the time it hung from a loop-clip on my backpack...

I haven't tried this out yet, but it is not a warm jacket. It is meant to keep you dry and that is about it. It's very thin. Just be warned!

attractive jacket
Very light weight. I was hoping it would be softer inside but its like a typical rain jacket... a little scratchy feeling. The colors are amazing. Looks great with jeans. The jacket advertises all this stuff about how it is so breathable and you dont feel sweaty in it. It's better than usual but you still feel a little sticky in it after a long period of wear. Great zippers under the arms to let in some air though.

Great daypack for what was designed to do
This is my second daypack from The North Face. The first has served me well for about 8 years. I bought this one primarily for the padded laptop slot.Here are the good points from the last month of living with it:- Very comfortable when worn over both shoulders- Fairly lightweight- Seems very well constructed with quality fabrics, zippers, pulls and stitching- The carry handle is strong and comfortable to use- Lots of storage spots for various everyday necessities- Nice padded and zippered compartment for cell phone/iPod/portable hard drive- Easily accessed, padded compartment for the power adapter- Well-padded laptop compartment- Chest strap adjusts up and down to fit- Waist straps are removable if you don't want them- Carries a lot if you loosen the cinch straps, or becomes compact when cinched (depth wise)- Laptop slides in and out easily. Best all around pack
So i bought this backpack to use at college this fall. I looked online at many different backpacks and brands and decided on this the Surge. It easily fits my Dell Studio XPS 16 in the laptop compartment. There is another large pocket which can hold several books at a time. There is also a rather large pocket that is divided which is good for holding small electronics and pens and pencils and other smaller items. I have carried it all over campus with books and other stuff and it doesn't bother my back at all. I also have used it in the Adirondacks. I climbed up 4 of the high peaks and had no problems whatsoever. I also used it to day hike Mt. Washington. I only really have two complaints about it. One is that there is no designated hole for the hose of a hydration bladder, not a big deal. The other is that the water bottle holders do not hold the wide-mouth 32 oz Nalgene bottles. I use it almost everyday and it seems very durable and reliable and I would highly recommend it!

Awesome bag, very sturdy
I bought this bag when my Dell laptop bag that i received with my XPS M1530 started fraying and tearing. The reason for this was that I would always leave for classes (I'm a college student) with my laptop and a bunch of books and I don't think that bag was built for that kind of loads. Anyways, I was looking for a very sturdy bag that was spacious and could hold a lot of weight. I have had good expereinces with The North Face in the past, so I decided to go for the Surge.I have been using it almost for 6-8 months now. It is very spacious. Holds my 15" laptop, and ton of books, notebooks etc. It has a special compartment for the AC adapter of the laptop which is pretty nifty. It is extremely rugged showing absolutely no signs of wear and tear. One of the best things about it is that its compeletely waterproof. I don't ever worry about getting my laptop wet if I'm caught in rain.Yes, it is expensive compared to other backpacks, but it's worth every penny of...

This is the third Northface jacket I have purchased at Amazon, I gave to my husband and he loves it, but says its almost too warm. It came packaged in plastic with the tags on, it is true to size and shipped very quickly. I don't have anything negative to say except I would like to see a bigger selection to choose from.
