Good Deal at $29
At the price I paid, about $29 including shipping, this was a good deal. After I bought it, Sam's had it for $26. However with the sales tax, it was just about a $1 less than what I paid. The person that filled the tank for me said it was a good tank. I bought it to be able to use the 20 lb. tank instead of the small canister propane tank on my Coleman grill, since the small ones did not last very long. The only negative thing I can say was that there where some small dents in the tank but I am assuming this occurred during shipping. I guess I could return it, but I didn't feel it was worth the hassle. Also, the tank came "pre-purged" so that it was ready to fill. The grill works even better now with the larger tank. If you use your grill a lot, this is the way to go. You can use it to refill, or use it to exchange for a full tank at the stores that have tank exchanges. Well made hose!!
This thing is nicely designed and built. Just to emphasize what others have already said - it connects the 20 pound propane tank to the regulator on the stove. *It does not connect directly to the stove - you still need a regulator!* The regulators on the newer stoves are on metal tubes with 45 degree angles, the regulators on the older stoves are on rubber tubes.It makes so much more sense to use a refillable big propane tank than to dump those little empties in the land fill.

Bought this for my portable ; works perfectly with 20lb propane tanks.Works like a charm, but CAUTION: If you plan on disconnecting the 20lb tank with the hose, you may receive some propane blow off. THIS IS OK! It is just the build up within the 5 foot hose.HOW TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE:Towards (or at) the end of cooking, close the propane nossel to off while keeping the grill turned on high. This will burn off all the leftover propane in the line. I usually turn it off within 3 minutes left of cooking as to not waste it; sometimes it'll continue burning, slower and slower, for 5 minutes after.

What I Needed
This is what I needed and seems to be good quality. Minus one star because the price is so high.It was hard to tell from the description (here at Amazon and other web sites) if the connectors on this hose were correct for my needs and how it attaches. I ordered it anyway and luckily it is what I needed to connect a propane tank (the type that is normally used for an outdoor grill) to my 25-year old 2-burner Coleman camp stove. One end of this hose has the same connector you find at the top of the small 16oz Coleman propane cylinders -- so it attaches to the metal tube connector that normally goes between a 16oz cylinder and the stove. The other end of this hose attaches to larger propane tanks like the new one I just bought. I don't know what a 20# tank is, but mine is like 3 gallons in size -- the usual kind that people use for outdoor grills. I found out, however, that it does not fit the quick-release connection that I have on a different propane tank that came...

Great little lamp
This single mantle lamp provides plenty of light, runs for more hours than I counted on a 16 oz can, packs great and uses easily available mantles. I have two. Many department and sporting good stores carry replacement globes. Once used, all mantles damage easily. A single mantle lamp saves money.

Convenient, bright and small.
I wanted a small lantern since all dual fuel/two mantle lanterns I've seen (except the one exponent model) are bulky and clumsy inside those cases. I've rarely needed a lantern to be on high but I wasn't sure if this was going to be bright enough at that setting. Well, it's brighter than I thought it was going to be and allows me to do everything I would I have done with a bigger lantern at an upper-middle setting.Having a metal guard around the globe is great too. I store this (and the other one I have) with all my gear in a duffel bag and even though it gets shuffled around at times, nothing happens. The chain handle is also great for hanging it on a rope without having to untie that and feed it through the handle since either side can be detached from the globe.

Used properly it can be very useful and money saving...
For safety concerns just use the source tank valve for on/off control...To fill each 1 lb. bottle more completely simply put those containers in a refrigerator or even a freezer for a few minutes AND put the 20/40 lb. FULL tank in hot water and/or in the Sun...The key here is to maximize the pressure in the source tank and minimize it in the receiving 1 lb. bottle allowing for more propane to transfer before the pressure equalizes...I've been filling these little bottles for years using this type coupler and while they may not get 100% filled as when new they can reach 80-90% with regularity when the above steps are taken...Keep in mind NO Propane tank is completely filled anyway or at least it shouldn't be to allow for excessive heat expansion when full..Even if trying to refill in a freezing or below environment simply heating the 20/40 lb. bottle up by leaving it in a heated indoors for a few hours and/or in hot water will help tremendously to get more...

Good but only fills about 1/2 way
I have had this or a similar product for several years now. I live in the mountains, and go camping a lot, and sometimes set up camps and leave, going to work, backpacking, etc, and dont return until night or even a few days. I had two small bulk containers, one for a propane lantern, and one for a little heater and both were stolen out of my closed tent. Since the small refillable propane tanks (small bulk tanks cost more than the regular 5 gallon bulk tank) are expensive, I switched back to the 16 oz type disposable type. I have messed with all different ways of refilling these babies, and here are my suggestions and results.1. If you only camp once a year (or twice), just spend the $3 each on a couple new 16 oz disposables and be done with it. If you set up "big hunting type camps" you are probably going to have a big bulk tank or 2 anyway, with a propane tree on it or some similar setup for lanters, cooking, etc. or more than likely, have a trailer, and you probably...

EDIT: see comment at end regarding a simple means to completely fill the tank.I don't generally criticize other reviewers, but I think some of the reviewers here (one and two stars) have gotten this confused with a different product. This device will not "freeze up" your grill, as it does not attach to your grill; and there is no "shut off" valve necessary, because your 20-lb tank already has a shutoff valve. I suspect those reviews are for an adapter to attach a 1-lb tank to an appliance that normally takes a larger tank (which I also have, looks somewhat similar to this, and costs about the same).A really important safety consideration: tighten the adapter to the big tank with a wrench. When you are removing the 1-lb tank after filling, you want the little tank to detach from the adapter (so the little tank's valve closes) and not come off with the adapter still on it, in which case the propane inside the little tank is going to blast out. No leaks
I used this car camping last year with a group and it worked great. I had two stoves and a lantern (all Coleman) running off of a 20lb propane tank using this device. No leaks from the main cylinder and I really like the finger-adjustable screws at the base that press against the tank to help stabalize the post. I reccomend a tank foot or placing the tank in a hole to help further stabalize your setup as it might get top heavy as the tank empties.
