It is so nice to enjoy drumming again.
I really wanted a 100% mesh head Roland v drum kit, but $3000.00 was out of my price range for what I do. I use Kit sounds 1 and 2 only. They are great through head phones, and my project studio monitors. I get a jazz set, and a rock set. My old acoustic drums only had one jazz set sound, lol. The midi out is great for triggering my VSTI drum sounds for my software sequencer (Acid Pro). I am an old Drum Corps drummer. I have played with jazz fusion combo's and hard core troops. I had truly lost the love for playing drums (burnt out), until I decided to dump the acoustic drums, and get this quality Roland HD-1 V drum lite. They take up very little room, and won't piss off the Neighbors. The rack is solid, but does tend to shake a bit because of the attached pedals. I switched to 7A sticks for this kit, because the mesh head snare is very sensitive, and the cymbal triggers respond best in my opinion to a smaller stick. Would I use this kit for a Gig? Back in the groove
This kit is near-to-perfect for someone who finds their acoustic kit has become too loud, too big, too difficult to transport, and too time-consuming to set up. If you are looking for something that is small with a small footprint that is light, portable, and that sounds good, this kit will fill the bill. I haven't been able to put the sticks down (geeze, now I know why I got away from playing for 15 years - it's as additive as crack cocaine). The other reviews voice criticism and they are justified, depending on what you are looking for. Unlike the higher-end kits, you cannot select individual drums. The drums for any of the pre-programed ten kits, and the volume of those individual drums are "global," meaning you can turn the whole kit up or down, but not adjust the tune or volume of one drum vs. another. Best Electronic Drums Under $1000
I had to get rid of my acoustic drums for many reasons (mainly being to loud for my neighbors, and difficulty recording).I record alot of music, so I need to be able to record drums on a regular basis. My garage didn't sound good on recordings, and setting up mics every day was a huge pain. I decided to get some E-Drums instead. I was between the Alesis DM7, The Alesis DM10, and these rolend drums. The DM7 felt extremely fragiel and sounded poorly, so they were out. The DM10 was good, but the Roland was better. They sound decent, and are extremely easy to record. I would definatly recomend.

Fantastic low-to-mid level electronic kit
I have started drumming recently. My interest in drumming was piqued with Rock Band 3's Pro-mode and I initially bought a very beat-up set of electronic drums. They did great for the game, but the sound quality the drums generated was pretty bad and the sound of actually playing the drums was horrible. After starting drum lessons and demonstrating both to myself and my wife that I was going to stick with it, we upgraded to this set. The difference is amazing.First, the quality of the materials is first rate. I am confident that this set will stand up to years of "rockin' out". Second, the difference both in output sound and the sound of playing the set itself is much, much better. The snare has both a middle and a rim trigger, the cymbals have dual triggers and can be "choked", the pads have great rebound and an overall good feel. I don't own this set, but I have played on it. The Roland V series drums are totally fabulous. Aside from the user-friendly interface that allows the user a very wide variety of sounds and tunings for the drums and cymbals, the mesh drum heads are incredible. I've played on other electronic drums before and never had a good experience with those. Hitting the heads of those other drums was like hitting a text book. They weren't good and didn't provide a very "authentic" feel. However, the mesh drum heads are like hitting a real drum head. You get the same feel and response from the mesh drum heads as you do from a real drum head. And when you strike the snare drum, you swear it feels and sounds exactly like a real snare drum. I also like the fact that through the module, you can plug in an iPod and play along with your favorite tracks. The only problem I found was that the volume control wasn't real great. Even when i turned the volume up pretty high, it didn't...

A Great Kit- worth two or three times the price IMHO
I am a long time drummer and will always prefer acoustic drums; however, edrums do provide excellent practice and recording opportunities. Having a wife and young son and being busy with work and life, I usually only get a chance to practice late at night. For years I just couldn't practice on the kit but then I got into edrums (note, I still gig on acoustic kits). I started with a Pintech kit that had a module from Pintech (EZ)- I moved to an Alesis D4, then a Yamaha DTX2.0 and then a Roland TD6V- the kit was nice for practice, but I was never satisfied with the way ghost notes were expressed (etiher no sound at all or way too loud even when striking very softly). I also found the mesh head too boncey to use for a practice kit, but that is my personal opion- many people love mesh heads (they are quieter, feel good, and can be much easier to play faster). Since I use an ekit to practice I really don't want it to be easier to play faster - I don't want to try to execute something...

First Impressions, DM-10 Studio
For some crazy reason, I decided to start drums. I have a small home studio and play some guitar and getting drum tracks into the music I create has always been a problem. I know I could have gotten a (better?) acoustic kit for the same price, but by the time you add mics to get it recorded, it ends up being more expensive. And with Electronic drums you have an endless array of sounds available and the ability to edit your performance after the fact. So anyhow, for my purposes, this kit seems very good. I read a couple of posts on the internet and expected it to take between 45 minutes to an hour to set up. 4 hours later I had a roughly organized initial setup. I had never played drums before and had no idea where I wanted things to be. I ended up having to reverse some mounts to get the drums in the position I think they should be. There is a curved bar for the front top - it was unclear in the very limited setup directions which way this bar should be mounted. I have no idea...

Drumming Fun
The most fun I've had drumming, ever. The mesh heads have great rebound. The entire kit doesn't feel fragile at all, and you can play around feeling like you would any other acoustic set. Picture a great sounding drum kit with a volume knob. The auxiliary input let's you plug in your MP3 player, or phone, and play along with the music. Best of all, my neighbors don't hear a thing. With the 25 loaded kit sounds, you can play just about any genre of music. Plenty of advanced options for drum dynamics (head tuning, muffling, reverb) for the people that like tweaking things. Electronic drums have come a long way, and these are good for hours of fun.
