Sabre Red, brings style to protection
I had two pepper spray units for years; one stayed in my purse, and the other was always with me on walks with my dog. Thankfully, I've only had to use one of them, once, when my dog and I were under attack by a menacing, off-leash dog, that wanted to fight. I can't tell you how quickly pepper spray alleviated the problem. And, a couple of weeks later, I saw the escapee dog in a distant neighbor's yard and he looked absolutely fine. The night of the confrontation, I was walking a 130 lb. Akita (on leash), so I can guarantee, that if that dog had attacked my dog, he would not have been looking fine. A little pepper spray saved one, or all of us from some degree of harm. I'd call that some bang for the buck.I decided to replace my units, after learning that they had passed expiration. Who knew! Cheaper than a taser

Pretty Powerful
I ordered this as a replacement for one that I have had for years & was a bit bulky. I thought this was a little smaller than it turned out to be & a paler pink in color. Regardless, it seems to be a good product. I sprayed it outside in the grass & could really smell it. I went back outside 5 minutes later & could still smell it. I hope I never have to use it but feel confident that if I did, it would work.Edit to my review...I reviewed this product too soon. I should have only given it 2 stars. My main complaint is that I have only had this product for 4 days now & twice the sprayer has turned to the open position in my pocketbook. I've been lucky that it has not accidently gone off. But I am now looking to purchase something else to replace it. I don't trust that it will not eventually bump into something in my pocketbook and go off. They need to improve the design so that it you can lock the sprayer in the closed position.

Just a little peace of mind...
OK...based on other reviews I felt I needed to weigh in. No it's not a knife. But personally I am not going out looking to "attack" anyone. I keep this in my purse as peace of mind. If I am out late or in an area I am uncomforable with I keep it close. If attacked I am not aiming for the "body" as others have complained would be difficult...I am going for the eyes or the neck! If your attacker is close enough to use this item...make it count!

Great idea!!
Not much to say about this, it's a dagger inside a hairbrush. Pretty cool. I'm giving one to my girlfriend for Christmas. Also, it's completely made of plastic, so she should be able to get it in to clubs that have metal detectors. That way if she has any problems with anyone from the club on the way out, she will have some protection. Someone said this was cruel and horrible, and I asked them how cruel and horrible it would be to get mugged and raped after a great night out partying. Anyways, thanks to Cold Steel for coming up with it. It's a great product, and super affordable.

Wouldn't wanna be the victim of this little guy
I'm a fourteen year old kid, and there's a lot of situations where I have to walk home, alone, in the dark. I was really never bothered by it until one night this man literally chased me for 10 minutes. Now I'm scared out of my wits of being outside alone in the dark.For my birthday, I received lots of Amazon Gift Cards, and this is one of the many items I've purchased. I looked for self defense items, and this one seemed like a pretty good pick. I received it today, and tested it on my wooden shed, glass, and cardboard, and let me tell you this thing will pack a punch (imagine punch is in italics). Not a bend or dent or anything, this is tough, TOUGH material. I pressed this thing into my leg just to imagine the pain, an it hurts enough by itself. AMazing
this keychain, is remarkble. one because of the power it possess. I own actuall brasee knuckls. and this meets the par. The downside is if you have big hands its a tight on you fingers, and u have to learn to throw punches with it, since only two finger slots. But over all great product, and withstands a lot of punishment.

Good Alternative Weapon But...
This is a fine weapon for the average citizen who is not inclined to carry a knife or handgun, but it cannot be as effective as a cane or a police baton, two other alternatives to consider. The cane is perhaps the most innocent seeming yet it has reach advantages over the kubotan and will deal a most damaging strike.The above review is a good one, but please ignore the advice about sharpening keys and using the kubotan as a flail. This is unlikely to provide any real stopping power to a determined attacker. The kubotan excels as a loadfist weapon, so use it to enhance your hammerfist and punch strikes. You can also use the point to 'stab' your attacker's body points and bony targets like the back of the hand can be excruciatingly painful when struck. In other words use the kubotan like it was intended to do so. Nowhere in any traditional yawara training is it used like a mini-flail like the above poster suggested.

Good quality, but forbidden as a carry-on item when flying
I use this product primarily as a keychain. Its weight and heft allow me to know without having to reach into my pants pocket that I haven't left my keys behind. I have carried it around with me everywhere, including through airport security, without any problems. That is, until today, when airport security at LAX detained me for over half an hour for carrying this kubotan keychain on my person. I tried to explain that as a weapon a pen would be more dangerous, but they informed me that it was a martial arts weapon on the list of prohibited items. It was interesting to observe how quickly the number of security officials grew as I sat there while they took my information and debated whether it was illegal or not. So as nifty and useful as this keychain is, don't forget to save yourself some grief and check it with your luggage when you fly.

Reliable since '06
As a young female who enjoys late night runs, I have found this particular brand of pepper spray to be my top choice since 2006. I have tried several other designs- they were either awkward/hard to spray, didn't spray, or had uncomfortable/no grips. The first canister I bought from sabre, I tested the first day and every 2 months afterward for the next year- it worked like a charm every time. The hand strap is adjustable and allows me to relax my grip when I run. I buy a new one every year or so to make sure there's enough spray left in the canister after all the testing- so this will be my fourth purchase and I have every confidence that it will work as well as the last three. I definitely feel much safer on my runs when I have it with me!

Wouldn't jog without it!!
I have used the Sabre pepper spray for a couple years now, and I love it! I like the way it will fire with a quick flip of the thumb. I enjoy running in the dark, and I have been attacked by a couple dogs. Now, I carry the Sabre spray and have had occasion to use it. I have found that just pointing it at a dog is sometimes enough to get them to back down... don't know why, but this has happened on more than one occasion. I like the way the velcro closure is adjustable. It enlarges to fit over gloves in the winter, adjusts smaller for the warmer months. Since it wraps around my hand, I don't have to carry it, and this frees up my hand to relax while running. I usually wrap it around my two middle fingers now and have my outer fingers on the outside of the velcro strap to make sure the velcro closure does not interfere with the spray... it did once. A better design would have been to have the velcro stick out on the bottom or to the inside of the strap, but this has been an easy...

Excellent Bargain
I just received my 42" Sjambok today in the mail and eagerly took it out for a trial spin while walking my dog. First, I have to say that the Cold Steel Sjambok is solid state in construction and very light. I carried it tucked under my arm like a swagger stick. The initial appearance is that of a riding crop on steroids. Not so obvious as to draw unwanted attention but certainly impressive enough to mean business.I have been using a recently purchased Cold Steel African Walking Stick lately but wanted to give the new Sjambok a try. My first night out I was charged by a loose German Shepard in my neighborhood. I swished the stick about while yelling and the dog immediately backed off. I have no doubt that I could have effectively flayed the beast if necessary but the intimidation alone seemed sufficent.So far, my initial impression is quite positive. Has its uses
I bought this on a whim but now am glad that I did. I hike a lot in desert country and really like this to sweep the grass and check for snakes. At 42 inches I am not sure this is good for any other critters but the flexibility and light weight makes me prefer it over trekking poles/walking staffs. Not recommended if you need something for stability.
