THREE Stars for the story; FIVE for the casting!
As far as the story is concerned, the plot twists were kind of easy to predict and the characters were your typical assortment: sexy female diversion, cool calculating young apprentice, savvy street-wise hustler, experienced poker ace, and the omnipresent crimeland kingpin of whom everyone is afraid. But, it is the marvelous casting that makes this film for me. Stallone, Townsend, Byrne, Newton, and Foxx seem to really be enjoying themselves in their various parts and could easily have given Clooney's "Ocean Eleven" crew a run for the money. Melanie Griffith's extended cameo fits well into the film's structure, too. However, the appearance of acting pros as Hal Holbrook, Patrick Bauchau, and Dina Merrill are a pleasure for this movie fan, adding an element of class and authenticity to the posh surroundings. Let me start by saying this book was awesome and I hope I do it justice. I loved Shade and the world Jeri created with the pre and post shifters so I couldn't wait to read Shift and I was not disappointed! Picking up Shift was like coming home. Shift picks up a couple of months after Shade ended and digs right back into the story. There are some amazing moments of steamy passion, mixed with action scenes that have you gripping the sides of your chair, as well as some utterly heartbreaking moments that will leave you with a pile of Kleenex next to you. The connection I felt with these characters was just so real I could feel Aura's anguish over having to chose between Logan and Zachary and I also felt their pain with decisions they had to make. This contains some necessary spoilers if you haven't read Shade, the first book in the series yet. If you're planning on reading it, there are things that happened since then that you might not want to be spoiled about. At the end of lawsuit between his parents and the record reps that supplied the cocaine that killed him in the first book, Shade, Logan promised that he'd be at peace and let his spirit pass, but the opposite happened - his darker emotions overcame him and he turned Shade, a ghost doomed to only walk in the shadows unseen by anyone ever again. I'm surprised that there aren't more people on the beach with one of these!
We used our beach shelter today for the first time in San Diego, CA - had a few people actually stop and ask us where we got it. We didn't see another one (or any other type of beach tent) on the beach at all! Like the other reviews stated, it was easy to set up and easy to break down. Not as easy as popping up an umbrella, which is probably why there weren't any on the beach. I would say it took the two of us about 12 minutes to set up and about as much to break down (where an umbrella takes about 30 seconds) - next time it'll be quicker I'm sure, but even so it's well worth the small effort. The front zippered flap that folds out and lays flat does indeed have two spikes to hold it. I wonder if the other reviewer just got shorted. I can see also that the metal spikes could be easily lost in the sand, I'm sure our local REI can hook us up with some heavy duty plastic versions. Something not mentioned is that the mesh bag that the tent...

Must have for an infant at the beach!
I took this shelter on our beach vacation and I couldn't have lived without it. It sets up easily and breaks down just as easy. I have a 7 month old and he pretty much lived in there while we were at the beach. I love the privacy door for nursing. The older kids did a quick change too! It also has a back window/door that can either be a screen or a wide open door for air to pass through. On hot days at the beach it was a nice option to leave the door open to get a breeze. The only drawback is it comes with stainless steel stakes which I find to be useless at the beach. I have already lost a few in the sand. If it came with the plastic camping ones I think that would be a better fit. I definitely recommend this product.

We ordered this cabana because we wanted something to protect our 1 year old from the sun at the beach, with more coverage than an umbrella. We've used this once at the beach so far, and it seems to do the job pretty well. It's pretty easy to set up, though not as easy as the pop-up versions -- but those usually cost significantly more. It's very lightweight, too. My husband, my baby, and I fit comfortably under the shade in sitting positions, and could stretch out with our legs sticking out, too, with minimal sun exposure. Some criticisms: 1) I think they should include two more stakes for the "door" so you can secure it in the down position. 2) It would be better if there were some smaller "windows" higher up, other than the rear window/door. The way it is now, you only get air flow by opening the rear window/door, and in certain conditions, this would significantly reduce your shade area in the cabana. 3) When at the beach, it's a little tough to fold up the...

Excellent Width & Sun Blocker
I bought 2, one for each back window of my VW Jetta. I wanted excellent window coverage for my young son, which is why I bought these; they were the widest shades I could find anywhere. I use the clips on top for holding instead of the suction cups, and have never had an issue. We've been using these for almost 9 months now. They block the sun very well... One thumbs down though: The outward showing side of the shades are white with the Dream Baby logo. Looking at the product picture, I assumed the outside would also be a dark color. I kept them because they are nice and wide and block so well.

Great for mini vans
I purchased this product to use in the 3rd row windows in our Odyssey. They are excellent! They fit perfectly and can be rolled up/down whenever needed. They stay in place without a problem. I had purchased shades for the same windows 2 times before and these are by far the best. The product comes with 2 shades and each has one dark side (which I placed facing inside the car) and a white side (which I placed facing the window to reflects heat). They come with clear suction cups (2 on top side, one at the bottom) which allow you to take the shade completely off if needed. I will definitely buy these again and have recommended them to friends.

However, the story seemed to move in slow motion and the author didn't seem to clearly define the background of the story from the beginning so I didn't really understand what I felt were essential facts/history to understanding the characters and the story until 2/3 through the book. Shade is about Aura, a young girl who was born post Shift. Which means she can see ghosts. These post Shift children are valued and the government is trying to recruit them. However it is annoying for more post-shifter born because who wants to have ghosts always bothering them? Plus the bad thing is that the ghosts can go bad and cecome dangerous and unstable shades. But tragedy soon occurs to Aura's rocker boyfriend, Logan. Logan ODs on cocaine and becomes a ghost.
