THERE IS A RUMOR CIRCULATING...
Word around the campfire is the first season of Alex Mack will be the only season released on DVD because the powers that be are only trying to capatilize on the success of Jessica Alba.Although she only appeared in a few episodes of the first season they are pushing the DVD by using her name and picture on the front cover.I've also heard that although there were originally 13 episodes in the first season this DVD set will only contain 12 episodes making it an incomplete season. This demonstrates just how hastily this product was thrown together and further proving that very little time was spent on getting a complete and quality-made DVD set together.I hope these rumors prove false and that "The Secret World Of Alex Mack" is given the proper treatment it and it's fans deserve.UPDATE 10/04/07: The rumors regarding the "missing episode" have been proven untrue. All 13 episodes are represented in this DVD set.Genius...

Just like I remembered
The Secret World of Alex Mack has always been my favorite show, and one sorely missed since it ended in 1998. So, I was more than eager to preorder the season and watch it as soon as possible. Thankfully, the show remains exactly as it did in memory - colorful characters, creative and morally education plots, and plenty of humor. Sadly, there are no features to the dvd. Also, I don't really understand why, but Jessica Alba, who is featured in two or three of the first episodes, has her face and name plastered all over the case cover, dvd label, and menu screens. I understand that she's quite popular and that we're led to believe this is her television debut, but Larisa Oleynik is the star here, not her. And with some great supporting actors whose names aren't even mentioned except for the ending credits (Darris Love, Meredith Bishop, etc.) it's kind of a shame.Hopefully if or when we see season two's release, it'll have commentaries or interviews.

Product Description

Alex Mack was one of the most popular television shows for kids in the 90’s. Originally airing on Nickelodeon, the shows follows a normal thirteen-year-old, Alex (Larissa Oleynik), dreading her first day of junior high school and trying to deal with the typical adolescent concerns. But a toxic spill changes all that. On her way home from school, a chemical accident suddenly leaves her biologically altered. Alex now has the ability to liquefy herself, turn into a human magnet, move objects and create force fields. Featuring the TV acting debut of Jessica Alba (Sin City, Fantastic Four), The Secret World of Alex Mack: The Complete First season is now available for the first time on DVD! Top to learn more

We NEED More
First of all, let me start out by saying that watching 90's Nickelodeon is THE ONLY thing keeping me sane. My dependency on Snick and Nicktoons is verging on an addiction. That being said, this was great, but it's a tease to only give us a Vol 1. chunk of episodes and not have the rest of the series available on instant video. The one with Zeebo the clown is too scary to watch, anyway, so it feels like I only got 6 of the 7 episodes.Episode five has Ashley Banks (Fresh Prince Will Smith's cousin) in it. It also features an ethnically vague family with the last name "Johnston". Haha, get real Canada. Kiki really fudged the details on this tale.Anyway. Buy it, it's great. Amazon, gimme more.

Misleading item title, but neat thing to have...
While this says that it's "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" "Season 1", it is not...The "Volume 1" is more accurate...These are a few select episodes from the first few seasons...It is not the show from the beginning, nor is it the complete first season. However, this is, still, a neat thing to have, since the DVDs have been discontinued. I only managed to get the first 2 seasons (and the "Freaky Favorites" collection [still available]), before they stopped producing the DVDs (I had to get them from Canada Amazon, and had planned to continue my collection, not knowing that they would become unavailable, and RIDICULOUSLY expensive where being sold by individuals online <some like $299.00...Come on! :-|>), therefore, I don't have anything offered here past the third episode....However, I purchased the whole "season", because at the current price, it was a better deal than even getting the 4 episodes that I needed. I look forward to checking out these few additional episodes that I...

Childhood memories
I loved this show as a child. It's perfect for fans of Goosebumps and other lighthearted horror fans. Its a good way to appease those children that like vampires, ghosts, and Frankenstein, but too young to let them know the more adult version of the stories.

Top Notch Film
O.K., let me explain myself. I'm a 29 year old male. I am a big fan of extreme horror films, and find most films along the lines of Disney fare as worthless pap or worse. Having established that, I was flipping through the channels one Sunday and stumbled over this little gem on the Disney channel. I left it on figuring I could smirk and do a "MST3K" treatment on the movie. Incredibly, I found myself drawn to the characters and the movie. Even to this day I still check the monthly TV bulletin we get to see if it's on. In fact, it's on as I write this review. I actually taped the film, something I almost never do. What can I say? I'm not made of stone, folks. The best thing in this film by far is Danielle Harris. What a major babe! Man! Not only is she a great actress, she is so attractive and vivacious that the viewer is drawn into the film and really cares what happens to her character. Most would probably argue that Katherine Heigl is a knock-out, and she is...

Surprised and thrilled
I'm not a big fan of the Disney Channel. In fact, I feel that Disney in general has been slowly degrading in the last few years. I happened across *Wish Upon A Star* on TV by chance and I thought it looked as cheesy as anything...but it turned out to be a beautiful movie. The story was universal. Who *hasn't* wished they were someone else? Especially their sibling, who seems to have everything they lack? And of course the magic of Disney can make it happen...sounds kind of dumb; but it was great. The acting was really good, especially Harris and Heigl; it was totally believable. The other more minor characters were typically Disney cute, yet that not only offset the sisters' profound characterizations, but lent the movie a lovable touch. I don't mean that the sisters were shockingly original or even that their characters are very deep and realistic. "Brainy plain Jane" and "boy-crazy fashion plate"? Where have we heard that before? However, the actors...

Surprisingly Entertaining!
I first knew about this movie from a friend's recommendation. I love Grey's Anatomy and Izzie is my favorite in it so I wanted to watch Katherine Heigl's previous work. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised by it. While the story is undoubtedly cliched, the girls' performances were great.I liked Danielle Harris in this movie. She's funny and cute. She did both Hayley and Alexia-as-Hayley very well, especially the latter. That table dance at the cafeteria was hilarious! I do think that Katherine stole the movie, however. She had the harder job of playing a shy, insecure little girl trapped in a tall, gorgeous body but she did a beautiful job of it. Her every shy smile and excited squeal leaves us in no doubt that it is actually Hayley in Alexia's body. I especially loved the part when they were taking the Princesses' pictures for the paper and she was making these outrageous faces. I forgot how funny Katherine can be. It really makes me think her comedic talents are...

Fun for young girls learning about school and friends
My elementary age daughter loved this book. She was so anxious to read about Emma and her school adventures every night before we went to sleep. The book also has wonderful illustrations in the book that kept young readers interested. My daughter is anxious to read more about Emma in other books from this series we have purchased.

Another person told me that because I am very active with my numerous projects people may be less inclined to pre-order thinking it’s just yet another project of mine… Point taken. And, a month into this, a neat label (inyrdisk) was going to put out a limited run of CDRs for the early WET DIRT album entitled "Self-Sabotage. My pal Shayne got his animated movie funded this way, but he said that people don’t expect to pay for music anymore when they can get it for free. I had pitched this album to numerous labels over the years but no takers, came close a couple of times. I don’t buy CDs. People had to actually want the album. I wanted it be more like a pre-order but with a deadline and some really enticing perks. This Points Gray album did come out in a CDR edition of 100 but, thankful as I was for them to be putting it out, it wasn’t what I envisioned. I had to really think about it. I didn’t want to beg. Labels want you to tour. And you can choose not to give the money all back if you don’t reach the goal (though PayPal will charge you). This was an album that all three of us wanted out.

I bought the Alice + Olivia navy blue butterfly shorts during their 20% event and the shorts run really big (FYI, if anyone's considering purchasing them size down) but I can't just exchange them. It's in Madison which isn't too far from where I will be. I wonder if they take exchanges in store from something I purchased online.

Morning sessions are for the bounty hunter, evening sessions for the smuggler. In Star Wars: The Old Republic, I am going to be busy a while on Balmorra, as apparently the entire Imperial army is so incompetent it requires the hiring of one bounty hunter to keep their invasion on schedule.
