I couldn't be more pleased! This are exquisite!
I purchased several beautiful glass terrariums and also some small air plants, added a little beach sand and some colored stones and have my own private mini-oasis, one by my work desk, one in my kitchen window, one for my Mom. These are just perfect and the seller went over and above in providing service. I would HIGHLY recommend the seller and the product.

Very neat
I really like this little hanging plant terrarium. I bought four of them, one for myself and the other 3 for gifts. Already made mine and put it by my kitchen window, it looks really neat hanging down from the ceiling - makes me smile every time I look at it :-) Highly recommend it, makes a nice and unusual gift, too.

A Feast for the Imagination!
I love this book - I keep picking it up and dreaming of what I might create from it - very inspiring! It takes you through all the steps in creating different kinds of terrariums, and is full of terrific photos. It is one of those wonderful books that you can lose yourself in and whets the imagination. You'll never look at a jar or vase the same way again! Truly fascinating little universes!!

Beauty from Found Materials
My love for terrariums goes back to the 1970s when those large, spaceship-style plastic orbs were so popular. Terrarium Craft by Amy Bryant Aiello and Kate Bryant is a wonderful book that has inspired me to bring some updated terrariums back into my home. What I liked most about the book is that that the authors' creations are from found materials. Instead of expensive Wardian cases, this book shows how to create beautiful scenes from a variety of glass objects you may have around the house or something you will be able to pick up at a thrift store. The authors provide good instructions for choosing containers and the proper planting materials to provide for a healthy environment for added plants. There are many pages of inspiration for natural and unique materials to add beauty and charm to the desired scene. Plants and mosses are also explained. There are full-page sized photographs of most of the designs.I especially appreciate the photographs...

Great habitat for small reptiles!
I was doing extensive research on tanks. The exo Terra line is the best. the convenience of opening the tank from the front is great. Having to remove the screen top, lighting to clean my previous tank was terrible. This one will be used to house our Bearded dragon (baby). Later i will get the large 36" version. If you are thinking of getting this habitat, the complete package is great, you do not have to go to the pet store to get the minor things (decor, lighting, ect). I love the background!

Nice ready to go habitat
The terrarium itself is nice. It's composed of glass and plastic. There are lots of openings for cleaning. The top is a removable mesh panel that stretches to all four corners. The forward doors are awesome for misting. The light and cover are completely optional which is nice. The backboard is borderline cheesy. It's molded styrofoam made out of gray and black dyed cells. A random coat of blue paint covers about half of it. Squint and it looks good. Under any type of inspection, it looks like a chunk of styrofoam. The accessories are a mixed bag, but generally disappointing. The plants and vines are typical quality. The food dish is the rocky surface type (smooth inner bowl). I hate these dishes as crested gecko food tends to find the nooks and never come out. I would have preferred a simple ceramic dish. Likewise, the humidity and temperature gauges are cheap, not to be trusted. The bedding is sparse. I augmented with some more substrate as...

Exo Terra delivers, as always
This is a perfect set-up for my crested gecko. Its size is nice and while the plants that come with it are sparse, it is easily supplemented by one or two others. The background itself and innovative front opening makes this a serious value for the money spent. I love this terrarium. It does not come with lightbulbs or a feeding dish in case your animal is herbivorous, so be sure to purchase some extra items.

Great, fun plants
I bought 6 of these wondering what they would look like when I pulled them out of the package. I figured if worst came to worst, at least I'd have little glass things I could hang with pretty rocks or something in. However, the packagers did a fabulous job and had everything for the inside of the containers beautifully measured out. Mine look as lovely on my window sills as these do in the photographs.

Love this!
This little terrarium came with everything we needed. It's fun to look at, I hung it right above my kitchen sink area so I can see it every day while I do the dishes. It's a unique conversation piece, people love it!

Trees have been highly valued by humans since the beginning of time. In fact, the word "paradise" is derived from the Persian word "pardes," which translates to "a park planted with trees." Now a little piece of paradise can be yours when you grow your own Bonsai Forest with a variety of trees and undergrowth shrubs. This complete kit comes with everything you need.

This attractive garden includes five packets - siberian elm, beauty bush, butterfly bush, peking lilac and siberian pea shrub. It also comes with planting mixture, authentic woodland cover, three bonsai decals, five bonsai plant stakes, meditation stones, buddha figurine, a sprouting and growing terrarium, perlite drainage pellets, and growing and care instructions.

Disappointed at first, but then . . . .
I was very disapointed at first. I followed all instructions, but nothing ever appeared. Consequently, I put it away. In May, I decided to give it one more try. I added the rest of the soil and planted all of the remaining seeds. Eventually, plants started poking through the dirt. Only 9 seeds have germinated and are continuing to grow, but I am enjoying watching them. If they live, I will eventually transplant them into a larger terrarium (already have plans drawn for it).

Total Letdown!
This toy is a waste of time. One can only assume that there is great educational value if the seeds germinate, which they did not. All instructions were followed and the toy was placed in an ideal place, still, nothing. I would buy the seeds yourself and let your little one help plant them without the use of the dome. Simply use sandwich bags and an elastic band to create small greenhouses. A WASTE OF MONEY!

Disappointed - Rate it at 0
These were not at all what I had expected and only a few of the seeds have come out - I ordered 4 of these. I am disappointed.

The New Terrarium
The New TerrariumWhat do you picture when talking about a terrarium? Do you have the memory I do of my summer vacations? We summered up at Green Lake for many years. Dad would cut firewood in the woods behind the cottage. Mother would walk back with us kids so we could explore the woods. She gathered moss, decayed wood, a few pine cones, and the tiny British Soldier fungi we found on downed logs. These were carefully protected on our trips home. Then, she'd carefully arrange these treasures in a brandy sniffer terrarium. It served as a vacation reminder until the next summer. This childhood memory left me with a permanent yearning for a terrarium. Unfortunately, I didn't seem to acquire the knack of putting these together successfully. I've...

Product Description

If you live in the city but want to be close to nature . . .
If you call the countryside home but have no time to step outside . . .
If you are confined to an office fifty hours a week . . .
If your home needs the soothing touch of the natural world . . .

In The New Terrarium, Tovah Martin, one of America’s favorite gardeners, introduces you to the whimsical yet practical world of gardens under glass—a no-fuss way to bring snippets of nature indoors. Wherever you are, in whatever little time you have, terrariums are the perfect tool for nature lovers and gardeners everywhere.

With gorgeous photography, The New Terrarium reveals how this classic garden tool has been reimagined in a modern way. When encased in glass, plants thrive with almost no help from outside their little enclosed world, so you can host a plant almost anywhere—in your apartment where the air is dry or in your cubicle where there’s little natural light. Tucked inside something crystal and contained, the bounty of the forest or treasures from the beach or the meadow can merge seamlessly into your home or office environment. It’s amazing how some frothy fern fronds or colorful blossoms can transform a room by giving it a burst of vibrant green life.

With clear, simple step-by-step instructions and photographs to inspire and guide you along the way, Martin shares her years of experience growing and tending terrariums and shows how terrariums can enrich your life, including:

• different venues for cultivating your terrarium
• plants that flourish in these gardens under glass
• ideas and designs for creating your first terrarium
• how to care for and maintain the environment you’ve made

Martin has designed a unique range of imaginative terrarium projects, including ones that are suitable for children, enliven the seasons, incorporate plant propagation, and show off a nature collection. Whether you are a gardener or city-dwelling nature lover, The New Terrarium is the perfect way to spark your creativity, while helping you to bring your favorite plants into your home and giving them a place to thrive.

When nature is out of arm’s reach and you crave a little greenery, The New Terrarium can show you how to bring all the benefits of the outdoors close to you. Top to learn more

Useful and beautiful
I checked this new book out from my library to see if I wanted to buy it later on down the road, and I do! The book is beautifully photographed, and it contains very useful information. When I am ready to to start making my terrariums, I will purchase the book. I particularly like the section on appropriate plants-this way I won't have to go to the nursery and wander around like a dumb-dumb! Terrariums are the new hot thing in crafting...so I plan to get started soon.

BUY The New Terrarium: Creating Beautiful Displays for Plants and Nature

Buy Terrarium

So when you're thinking about making a terrarium, don't just think about what sort of pot or globe you want, also think about the plant you'll be getting and do you research. Apparently, the type of succulent I have was supposed to be planted with just a little bit of soil - its roots like to be more tightly packed in, rather than loosely planted as it was in the terrarium. I'm horrible with plants so I never buy them, but I was given a beautiful terrarium for Christmas. First of all, if the glass isn't sealed (or mostly sealed, anyhow), it isn't much of a terrarium. You want enough moisture so the poor things don't dry out, but not so much that the air inside the terrarium gets humid and they rot. Whereas planting houseplants can seem daunting and messy, a terrarium is more like decorating. Once planted, the terrarium is mostly carefree. Last year, I found myself frustrated with what was out there for terrarium and planter supplies and I kind of got tired of just seeing "kits" on the market. Beyond that, cacti and succulents can survive in a terrarium if it's kept pretty dry. Also, I've bought a terrarium from West Elm and I was incredibly disappointed with their product. On a recent visit to Costa Farms in Miami, I had the opportunity to roll up my sleeves and build my own terrarium. This wall mount fish bowl from Target could become a terrarium in a home that lacks table space or has a nosy pet.

The items which you’ll need before taking your crested gecko property really are a glass terrarium, a heat mat, feeding amp water dishes, planting soil and coco husk which are ideal for holding moisture and helping to keep up with the quantities...
