I won't be cliche and tell you that your mission, should you choose to accept it... You know the rest.Without a doubt, this is the best of all the Mission Impossible movies, including the original. Over the years, the MI franchise had become something of a cartoon of itself. So, it seemed appropriate that Brad Bird should be chosen to helm MI4 Ghost Protocol. As the Oscar winning director of the Incredibles, he made animated cartoons seem very real. Now, he's made Mission Impossible real again. He's injected a fresh breathe of confidence, humor and camaraderie into a series that sorely needed it. He's not only re-invigorated the franchise, he's re-invigorated Tom Cruise's career as an action star. With this movie, Tom is back on top.You'll notice that there is a lot of the Incredibles in MI4 Ghost Protocol. Fun and exciting.
Ethan Hunt is forced to go underground with his team in order to prevent a Russian nuclear missile from striking the United States. Due to the sensitivity of Russian and American relations, he is performing his mission with only a wink-wink from his superiors. This one contains the requisite action and excitement and is the best film in this trilogy since the original. The storyline is not overly complex, and I found myself invested in the action, at times feeling the thrills of the onscreen excitement right there in my seat. This is a fun movie to watch.

Updated for Blu-ray-Well made thriller from director Brad Bird ("The Incredibles") bodes well for his future as a director
UPDATED FOR BLU-RAY:A couple of things about the Blu-ray edition 1) Paramount has done a stunning transfer with nice depth, clarity and detail. Skin tones look quite nice as do textures. The audio is VERY active with a great losslss 7.1 mix.Be aware however that the sequences shot in IMAX format are NOT presented in the wider aspect ratio for the film (unlike, say, "The Dark Knight"). Also this includes a code for a Ultraviolet "copy" which means you'll have to stream the film rather than upload it to your portable device. There's also a code for itunes as well if you go that route.The special features are good for the two disc editions but I am a bit disappointed that we don't get a feature length commentary track from Brad Bird and tom Cruise but we do get Bird's commentary for the deleted scenes and alternate opening sequence for the film. Is there such a thing as a bad movie made in Italy? Probably, but at least the scenery's usually good. I can't imagine A Good Woman working in a setting like New York or London, but I don't have to. It's set in 1930's Amalfi, the perfect background for a story like this one. Professional mistress Mrs. Erlynne flees to Italy when too many wives are on to her at home. On the ship, she notices a newspaper photo of a young couple, and she knows exactly what her next move should be. The young wife is innocent and naive, and all sorts of innuendo and gossip go flying around Amalfi that season.This is a woman's picture, and Helen Hunt as the adventuress has never looked more beautiful. Her voice, unfortunately, is rather too clipped and less sultry than it need to be, but in the end, she pulls of her role. Can I say Uncontrollable Sobbing??
This movie got to me immediately and I was an emotional wreck by the end. The young man who played Oskar should have GOTTEN an Oscar. He was appropriately named. I have a nephew with Asperger's so I know that this young man played this part to perfection. At the core, it's the beautiful story of a damn good father who loved his wife and son and left this world too early, and how his family deals with that. It's flipping beautiful. I don't understand the low reviews from some.

Extremely just long enough and just conscious enough....
I work with kids with Asperger's and this kid did a perfect job. One reviewer thought he wasn't enough like a real kid. Well, Asperger's kids are different. They're often exactly like this kid.A perfect movie. I can't imagine a better one being made about 911. Incredibly moving and extremely sad. Very, very well-written. Amazing....

He likes it... me not so much.
We rented this movie a couple of days ago for our 5 year old. He has watched it so many times in just three days. he doesn't want to return it. So now we'll have to buy one.Personally I would rate this movie 2 stars, since I did not really find it that great. It's basically a constant repetition of the same. Jerry outsmarting Tom, Tom after Jerry, pats-boom, Jerry gets hurt, and start over again. Throw the bulldog character in, pirateships with pirates with there parrots, a treasure map, and treasure island, a curse, and some obstacles, where Tom and Jerry do there repetitive pats-boom, till the end, where of course the usual character ends with a smile.But our 5 year old loves it, and watches it over and over and really likes it. And since it's really a kid's cartoon movie, I have to respect his opinion on this one. My kids love Tom & Jerry. Who couldn't? (I'll never forget, when I was 18, I was on a plane headed from Denmark to LA and the overhead played Tom & Jerry cartoons- the old one's from the 60's. Every adult was laughing their heads off! Adults laughing...at a cartoon!)The Magic Ring has all the chases and 'cartoon violence' as the old ones did including a lot of other characters that have been forgotten, like Droopy!Love this film as much as my kids. Pretty darn cool! My daughter is a big Oz fan. we've rented and have watched everything related to OZ. We saw this on Amazon's streaming and had to try it. So glad we did. The only scenes missing are Dorothy's first encounters with the Scarecrow, Tin Woodsman, and Cowardly Lion, plus a few minor others, which was prudent because otherwise it would have inhibited T&J&WOOZ's manic pace.
