The Wonder Years, but not the ORIGINAL PILOT!
Awh, what a treat. Without a doubt, this simply was the only television show that ever captured the beauty of living in America. The pilot episode takes us back, not only to 1968, but to every adolescence childhood memory of growing up.What made the first season so enjoyable, this collection offers 2 episodes of the original six, is that they all inter-twang so perfectly with one another. Both the pilot episode and 'Swingers' portrayed and honest truth to everybody's youth without overdoing the essence of the time period. I often say, '1968' was a great character , something most shows about adolesence never use to there advantage. When this show originally aired after the Superbowl 1988, narration for the pilot episode was done by Arye Gross. Daniel Stern redid it for its network run and the real 'pilot' seems to had gotten lost along the way. If hope pervails, maybe we could see it again with the original monologue of Kevin and Winnie sharing their only kiss...

You'll look back with Wonder too!
You can't help but interject yourself Kevin's life. He is so relatable. Also with the narration it makes us think of our own glory days of youth and the important people in our lives. The first kiss. First experience with someone dying. The intrigue of sex ed. Our best friend and knowing everything about that person. Nagging brother or sister. Fighting parents who loved each other and us. The popular music that defined the era we grew up in. I'm sure there are special songs that conjure up powerful images from your past just as the special songs from the Wonder Years does the same for each episode. With the narration of the young Kevin and the 60s setting it reminds me of the movie Christmas Story. The Messy Marvin actor and the narration of his thoughts/dreams of the Red Ryder bb gun. Another classic! But I digres . . .You have to see this first volume of Wonder Years! It will tug at your heart strings again! You won't be disappointed!

Kevin Arnold captures our memories as we go back to 1968.
A 12 year old boy named Kevin Arnold (played by Fred Savage) growing up in the 1960's through the 1970's. He has to deal with this parents (Dan Lauria / Alley Mills), brother, sister, best friend, school and of course girlfriend Winnie Cooper (played by Danica McKellar). The person who narrates and describes everything for us is off screen adult Kevin Arnold (portrayed by Home Alone's Daniel Stern). This is a TVG comedy-drama the whole family will enjoy.

Wonder Years: Volume One [VHS] [VHS Tape] (1988) Fred Savage; Daniel Stern Top to learn more

These first two episodes of the charming and perceptive series The Wonder Years are an appropriate setup for the uninitiated and a must-have for fans. The original pilot introduces Kevin (Fred Savage), his best friend Paul (Josh Saviano), his childhood playmate and budding girlfriend, Winnie (Danica McKellar), and his typical late-1960s, early-'70s family: older brother and nemesis Wayne (Jason Hervey), beautiful liberal sister Karen (Olivia d'Abo), mother (Alley Mills), and father (Dan Lauria). Kevin and his friends are entering Robert F. Kennedy Junior High School, Winnie gets contacts, her brother Brian (Bentley Mitchum) is killed in Vietnam, and Kevin and Winnie share a first kiss. The opener also features some fantastic music (the Byrds' "Turn, Turn, Turn," Joni Mitchell's "Both Sides Now," Tommy James and the Shondells' "Crystal Blue Persuasion," and Percy Sledge's "When A Man Loves a Woman")--a trademark of the series. Great music (Buffalo Springfield, Aaron Neville, Judy Collins) also highlights "Swinger," which follows with Brian's funeral and Kevin and his pals' growing obsession with sex, fueled by their curiosity with Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex But Were Afraid to Ask. Daniel Stern's narration is warm and engaging and the voice-over is never intrusive. This series continues to be enchanting because of its ability to mix comedy and pathos, as well as infuse a sense of dignity and history in a period many consider their most awful years. --N.F. whemmer
An informative and deeply moving biographical play written and performed by Miss Lee, who portrays Rachel Carson in her late years as she tells the story of her early love of writing, her discovery of science, her reaction to the impact of "Silent Spring", her love of and caring for her family and her own struggles with the cancer which eventually killed her. Too short!

A Sense of Wonder
This is a very good performance of an actress portraying Rachel Carson, author of Silent Spring, being interviewed. It is thoughtful and you feel that she is having a visit with you. It is full of surprises about the life of Rachel Carson and the interviews with real family and friends at the end seals the enjoyment of this quiet gem.

Love the comic on CD thing. More please!!!
I love having all of the older comics online. It is difficult to try and find storylines through the years with all of the older paper books. I have over 30 boxes of comics and it's almost impossible to keep track of these, not to mention expensive. With these, I am archiving all of them to my server. That way, whenever I'm online, I can read a few issues. If I want to print them out, that's good too.I would much rather have these online instead of books. More please! I would like to see more collections of titles (What If?, Dr. Strange, Defenders, etc). I already own all of the titles that have come out on CD.I would even sign up for subscriptions if I could get them all on CD.

Great collection in an easy to access dvd
This was a great idea to put all these comic books on one dvd. Now I don't have to dig through my old comic book collection to find an issue. Its all neatly organized by date and issue number. I highly recomend it. It includes my favorite stories from the late 1980's - early 1990's when Todd McFarlane (creator of Spawn) was drawing Spider-Man. If you have not seen his work on Spider-Man, getting this dvd just for those issues is worth it. In my book, he was and still is the best Spider-Man Artist that ever worked on any Spider-Man title.

Great material, but why stop here?
I LOVED this idea. Collect all of the comics I'd never have the nickels to rub together onto a digital format for future viewing and reading. HOWEVER - this covers only the last 20 years. Even if that's the only portion you're really interested in - for just a few bucks more, you could have The Amazing Spider-Man: the Complete Collection which collects all of the comics from Lee to the present.By the way - don't make the stupid mistake I made. The original CD collection plus this does not a complete set make. You miss out on the first 19 annual issues. If you're going to read them, you're going to want to be complete (unfortunately)...Now, I'm trying to complete my (nearly) complete set again - ugh. Why do I not read these reviews?

Hannah Montana is a fun-filled performance-based DVD game that's based on the hit Disney show of the same name. Recommended for ages 6 and up, Hannah Montana lets little girls be the star of their very own show.

What We Think

Fun Factor:

Durability:

(what this means)

The Good: Easy-to-follow DVD menu

The Bad: Must watch the TV show Hannah Montana to understand the game

In a Nutshell: Interactive DVD game, fun for the whole family

At a Glance

Ages: 6 and up
Requires: DVD player and television
Game Setup
This DVD game is fun for the whole family. Just pop in the disc, choose a character, and you're ready to play. The game includes six of your favorite characters. Roll the sparkly dice and move your character along the circular game board. Jackson, one of the show's funniest characters, explains the rules. The menu is a cinch to navigate, even for young children. During the challenges, the game plays some of the show's best clips and sometimes asks for players to guess song lyrics and name Hannah songs. When a player reaches an "all play" space, the game heats up while each player competes in the same challenge.

Rock Out with Hannah
Perfect for your little performer, this game has multiple activities to keep kids entertained. Girls can rock-out to Hannah's hits in their own karaoke-style performances or put together outfits for the whole gang. They can even strike a pose at a celebrity fashion shoot!

Every true Hannah fan tests their knowledge by answering tricky trivia questions. As players win challenges they receive tokens, with objective to collect one token in each category. Once a player collects a token in each category, they must pass two challenges to win the game and land tickets to the concert.

Play Test
DVD games are the newest craze and this one definitely caters to the target age range. A variety of cool activities will keep the young players excited. The game pieces are miniature versions of the characters and sit on sparkly stands. Narrated by Jackson, the rules are easy-to-follow and fun. However, if someone hasn't watched the show, playing this game might be a problem, as it includes a lot of show clips and trivia.

Also, it seems much more entertaining with three or four players, rather than two. But these minor drawbacks don't take away from the light-hearted fun of this girly game. If your little ones are into fashion, music, and Hannah Montana, this is definitely the DVD game for them.

What's in the Box
DVD game disc, game board, 6 movers, 4 mover bases, and 1 die.

Not very many questions
This game is a blast, but after the first time you know the answers to all of the questons! I would discourage people from buying this game if they plan to play it more than once. I would suggest High school musical and High School musical 2 DVD board games instead. The questions rarely repeat and there is a large bank of questions.

The series was scored with wall-to-wall period songs, and the trouble is, when the show first aired (1988-1993), DVD was still years away and TV shows were seldom released on VHS.
