STUCK TO THE BOTTOM OF YOUR SHOE
When I saw that the CRITERION COLLECTION was bringing THE BLOB to DVD - I have to admit I was shocked. This effective and classy little 1950's monster flick was getting the kind of star treatment that most films released on DVD are begging for. And for good reason... THE BLOB is an excellent movie. It hits all the marks, it stands it grounds, it never bores you and it provides you with a original (and even credible) monster that to this day is still more sinister than most that cross the screen (and yet remains the most fun - really, if gum chewed back, it would look like the BLOB). CRITERION again shines here... period style box art (including in the lower left corner a warning that the producers of THE BLOB can not be held libal for heart attacks or faninting from watching the film), a fact based booklet featuring the orginal poster art from the release for it's cover, plus a half sheet poster of the box art that is high quality and all glossy... a beautiful touch. The disc...

A technical perspective....
THIS IS THE WAY DVD IS MEANT TO BE! When I purchased this DVD, I was originally taken aback by the high price. I knew nothing of "The Criterion Collection" until this disc. What they have done is nothing short of a miracle...restore THE BLOB to its original cinematic glory. The digital remastering is the most pristine I have seen for any movie, THE BLOB or no. The mono soundtrack is so clean, I could have sworn it was dimensional. The extras are a real treat. This is a fully-loaded DVD and one worth every penny. Fans of THE BLOB will rejoice with this DVD. All others will probably shrug their shoulders. This is eye-popping fantastic, from a technical standpoint. Buy with confidence!

It crawls.... It creeps.... It eats you alive!
I hadn't see this movie in quite awhile, so when I saw it out with the 'Criterion Collection' treatment, I picked it up pretty quickly. The transfer is really good, and the colors come through brilliantly. Just seeing the blob oozing around, all bloated on the blood of it's victims is quite creepy. I do wish I could have seen this at the drive in, as that seems to be it's perfered format of venue, but this is the next best thing. I loved the part where the old man finds the small meteor and starts poking it with a stick. You just know something bad is going to happen. And then when he starts playing around with the blob on that stick, the ooze sliding down, getting closer to his hand....and the theme song...I had almost forgotten about that. It's so unlike a horror movie theme, but very catchy. Reminds me of that song 'Purple People Eater'. Anyway, the movie is a great piece of 50's sci-fi with great effects that's a lot of fun. Also included with this editon is a poster,...

Awesome Remake!
In a small California town, life was simple for a teenage punk (Kevin Dillon) who falls for a lovely cheerleader (Shawnee Smith) but one night there's a strange meteorite crashes outside of town with a weird pink goo that consumes an old man's hand. Taken to a doctor, the weird slimy stuff is really alive for it's a monstrous organism that devours any creature or person that stands in it's way, can it be stopped?Quite an awesome remake of the 50's sci-fi/horror classic with Steve Mcqueen that is just as good but with a new explanation on the creature's origin as it's a government experiment from space gone wrong. The acting is very good and so are the nifty special effects and gory detailed scenes of people being engulfed by the slime especially the memorable man being sucked down the sink scene, the blob itself is more nastier and meaner looking then the original glob of strawberry jam. This DVD has good picture and sound quality with the only extras being...

Well-Polished Version of an 80's Horror Classic
If you wish to read of my adulation for this grisly, shocking, excellent remake, just scroll down to my March '99 review "Steve Mcqueen, Eat Your Heart Out!"As far as the long-awaited DVD release of "The Blob" is concerned, I must say it is an absolute treat for this here horror/sci-fi buff! Just to see Chuck Russell's masterful film in its digitally remastered 1.85:1 widescreen glory, along with the original trailer feature, really made my collection's day! My only qualm is that Columbia/TriStar was rather remiss towards the sound design (still in 2.0 surround, just like my old VHS copy). "The Blob" is a film that is definitely made for a 5.1 or DTS mix with all of its explosions and the oozing, organic sound effects that helped breathed life into this infamous & reviled movie monster. An awesome flick and a 4.5-star quality DVD...worth every cent.

Scream now, while there's still room to breathe.
I really enjoyed this remake. I love the original, and I think a good job was done staying true to the original, while managing to update it for a new generation. I've seen a lot of remakes, and very often you get a sense like the director is trying to avoid ties to the original movie, but not here.I thought this movie was fast paced and fun. It kept me interested all the way through. It was quite violent at times, and gory, but when your subject matter is about an all consuming space blob, you sort of expect that kind of thing. The interaction between the characters was pretty well done. Kevin Dillon plays Brain Flagg, our hero who is also an outcast due to his rebellious nature. Shawnee Smith plays the female lead, the all American cheerleader homecoming queen type. The two are thrown together to fight the blob. This version starts off essentially the same as the original, the blob arriving from space and attacking an old man in the woods. The old man is found by...

If you want to get a good laugh at the Move that JR Shot...
When I was a kid, I loved horror movies. I even collected those monster trading cards. There was only one movie that scared me and that was Beware! The Blob! I don't know exactly why it scared me. So I waited and waited expecting it to come on tv again after all these years. So I figured, buy it and get a kick out of it. So if you want to get a movie just to get a good enjoyable laugh check it out. Larry Hagman did a good job as director in the flick.

Blob vs Hippies
Cindy Williams, Shelley Berman, Dick van Patten, Burgess Meredith and other familiar faces get together in this direct sequel to the original Steve McQueen movie. The original blob was taken to the frozen north. An oil worker finds something strange in the permafrost and brings it home where his wife doesn't want it in the freezer. Well, it thaws, and after a fly and a kitten, the creature moves on to human prey. This is a strange film with camp pushed to its limits. Nothing is safe from the creature in this small town and nothing is same from the film makers. Hippies, hairdos, hobos, and the strangest barber since Monty Python's Michael Palin are just the tip of the iceberg is this strange film. There is even a clip from a certain Steve McQueen film. It fits into the blob scenarios the same way that Godzilla vs The Smog Monster fits with the rest of the Godzilla films. The effects are pretty good (foreshadowing those of the remake) but the acting and pacing make it more...

Scary Moments Take Over Weak Script
I first saw this movie when I was ten years old in 1977. It scared me because of the warning signal that told the audience that the blob was near. There was one scene that was very impressive, which was the scene with the shadow of the blob on the barn. The shadow indicated how big the blob got since the beginning of the film. The blob ate all the animals and then the three hippies. Burgess Meredith and Larry Hagman were two of the hippies in that scene. The cast of the film is likeable and there are plenty of veteran actors like Richard Webb and Shelley Berman. For its time,Beware! The Blob was scary! Something like this blob can make its way to earth someday. No one knows for sure what is out there in outer space. This creature keeps moving or rolling along with no eyes or hands or legs. It is a shapeless mass of life-form. What the creature looks like makes it a scary creature. This movie is far better than the ridiculous movie made in 1988. That movie has too many special effects...

Great Remake of Reversi
I've never rated or written a review for an app before but felt compelled to defend this great game. I agree with the other positive reviews that a game shouldn't be rated poorly just because it is a remake of a classic. In that case, all chess and checkers apps should be 1 star. This is a clever and well executed remake of Reversi / Othello (the commercial name) with a clever twist that I really like. Also, there is a tutorial under the help button on the main menu.

This is a review for "Blob Fits In"
I'm not one for reviewing my various purchases, but I felt compelled after I read "Blob Fits In." This is a truly original and hilarious story with a delightful ending. Definitely a one of a kind. I look forward to reading much more work from Terri Bogard in the future.

Oh, what a read it is!
Bogard has all the makings of a truly great American Author. I've always said that if there was one thing Hemmingway, Fitzgerald, and Steinback lacked, it was definitely blobs. In this truly heartwarming story, Bogard finally rights this literary wrong. If I ever meet Mr. Bogard, I should like to shake his hand.

As always, we watched some jousting, sword fights, musket firing, juggling and had a wonderful time browsing some of the shops – until I came across one that sells swords. My idea of this breakfast is like the one we once had when they were young – a backyard garden in a BB or some local who converted their garden into a make shift restaurant serving organic food for breakfast. Before you know it – Celine uploaded photos in Facebook and their cousins in Canada already asking what for did I buy a sword. Yes, I did buy a sword but don’t be alarmed. These photos are products of Jeanne’s dexterity in photo manipulation – we are not really trying to off each other. When we reached home, we unsheath the blade and poised for a sword fight. Not wanting to disappoint my ladies – I Googled another place that will serve good breakfast.
