Your top choice in plastic replica Komodo Dragons in the 10-14 inch range
Dragonus a Dragonus, as my four-year-old son has named him, has a mischievous little glint in his eye that says, "I've killed a small deer and hidden it somewhere, but I'm not telling you," which is good, because despite my love for Varanidae (and large reptiles in general), I'd be reluctant to approach a feeding Komodo Dragon.`Ol Dragonus is a sturdy beast, well proportioned and accurately detailed in a medium that is really not so far off from the texture of real lizard skin. I was concerned that there were some hand-painted features, such as the eyes and tongue, but whatever they've used is quite durable, certainly soap- and waterproof, as I learned after his first mud bath. If you're looking to teach your little one the correct "one above, one below" two-handed grip for handling lizards, you may actually find his torso a little fat for small hands, but he's gratifyingly stout and healthy looking, with the nice fat stomach and legs a well-fed lizard attains...

Well done!
I added photos of head, bottom and body including one on top of a ruler to show size. Well done! I have a fascination with Komodo Dragons and this "toy" does it justice.

Great for pretend battles
(this is by my 9-year old son)I was learning about the Komodo dragon in school and my dad bought me this. It is very realistic and looks exactly like the Komodo dragons in the BBC Life series. It is well made and can keep up with some rough play, including pretend wrestling battles with my other animals (pretend with Dinosucus, Megalodon, Tylosaur and Velociraptor). I also plan to make a Komodo dragon monster movie with my Lego men. Safari makes great toys and I recommend all of them.

A concise and informational text for young and old
This informative text tells the story of the Komodo dragon from the discovery of the beasts by Chinese sailors thousands of years ago to the most recent research on the antibiotic potential of substances found in the blood stream of the Komodo dragon. The book is written in a quasi-chronological fashion where stories of the research conducted on Komodo dragons by Burden (1920s), Auffenberg (1960s), Fredeking (1990s), and Ariefiandy (today) is presented. These stories demonstrate the need of scientists to build on one another's research and how each discovery invites potential for future research. Especially prominent in the text is the importance of conservation for the survival of this unique species. The author even makes an important note near the end of the text that "a portion of the proceeds from this book will be donated to the Komodo Survival Program." I enjoyed the simple condensed text used in this book that allows the reader to see the major points but not...

Product Description

These are the adventures and discoveries of the scientists who revealed the secrets of the Komodo dragon. This strange creature inspired myth and legend, luring brave souls into the forests of Indonesia to see if the tales were true. In the end, it attracted scientists, who unraveled the mysteries of how such a remarkable creature could exist, how it uses the deadly germs in its saliva to its advantage, and how those microbes may lead to cures for stubborn diseases. Ecologist and children's writer Marty Crump describes how her friends, colleagues and other scientists tracked, studied, and escaped the Komodo dragon. Her dramatic text, complemented by photographs from key scientists, tells the true story of the world's deadliest lizard.

A portion of the proceeds from this book will go to the Komodo Survival Program. Top to learn more

Recent research suggests that the size of the Komodo dragons may be descendants of an extinct prehistoric Pleistocene population of carnivorous varanid lizards that once inhabited Indonesia and Australia. For shelter, the Komodo dragon digs holes that measure three to ten feet ( 1–3 m) using their powerful front legs and claws. Similar Australia fossil discoveries of V. komodoensis The Komodo dragon prefers hot and dry places, and is typically found in dry open grassland, savanna, or low elevation tropical forest. Young Komodo dragons are vulnerable and therefore dwell in trees, safe from other predators and cannibalistic adults. Young dragons, because of their strong claws, are proficient at climbing trees. Mature dragons use their claws as weapons, their size makes climbing impractical. We sighted most of the dragons hanging out near the ranger station. We also saw the dragon’s prey, water buffalo and Timor deer. ” Their population has increased to 1,100 on Komodo Island with about half of them living on nearby Rinca Island. 7 square miles) includes the islands of Komodo, Rinca, Padar, Gili Motang along with several small islands in Sapa Strait located between Flores and Sambawa. Biting to kill, once the Komodo, the world’s largest monitor lizard, gets a taste of blood, it is impossible to separate it from its prey. The toxic saliva that kills other animals does not affect the Komodo. Several times we sighted Komodos along the trail, one drinking from a stream.

That’s interesting information, but I think I speak for everyone when I say that the big question here is, who’s buying Komodo dragons on the black market. In any case, I was able to obtain some footage of the dragons being transported:.

Their traditional villages are charming shared family rice house, ancestral family homes with many generations sharing two rooms and communal spaces as well as a village heads house. For now there is the Novotel on a different, private beach, over to the east and the Oberoi Lombok to the west (the Oberoi has won the worlds best hotel for the last few years- a snip at $500-800 a night). He added a stop at a pottery village (boring) and a local Sasak village. The locals have found gold in the hills and lots of little tent villages have sprouted up with homemade tunnels and grinders. The shuttle bus through Perama turned out to be a little Suzuki car, with AC and a driver called Apo who quickly turned into guide supreme. Beach East of Kuta Lombok. After a lunch back in Kuta we try and head west to what we have been told is one of the best beaches in all of Indonesia. I must admit with our rubbish remnant of the Lonely Planet South East Asia on a shoestring I knew little to nothing about Lomboks people and culture. Lynne is feeling a bit beached out so we head for the hills. These villages are perched between the most beautiful and vibrant green padi fields. However this time it’s a more easy 5k walk through the paid fields with a guide pointing out the various stages of rice production. We had previously gone up the north side and come down the east side and were treated to new views of this monster volcano. We hired a scooter and cruise east (very slowly mum and dad) down the coast dropping in at different bays, having a swim and eating freshly cut pineapple. The village has become a bit of a padi field retreat and is packed in the high season.

So far, he loves it. The Komodo Dragon is one of his favorite animals. It was very exciting to discover that they had a Komodo Dragon version. We did have a little difficulty getting the battery compartment open on the contol, but we got it. Getting the rechargeable battery pack into the car was also tricky. Funnest remote control car I've ever purchased By D. REDD I have around 10 different remote control cars (price ranges $[. ])and this one is by far the best. Most helpful customer reviews 75 of 75 people found the following review helpful. We looped the RC wire (on the car) around and taped it to the car using clear packing tape so that it doesn't accidentally get ripped off. Then we can use the strip to pull the battery out when we need to recharge it. My chief complaint is that the battery only lasts 20-40 minutes, depending on how hard you run the toy. My son likes this car more than his friends' cars because it has the ability to turn around almost instantly because of the 4-wheel drive. 00 pounds Full function RC Aggressive futuristic styling Works on pavement, dirt, sand, and in water Huge knobby tires and twin screw propellers make for high speeds in the water Hobby grade construction means the vehicle is built to last. We did end up getting an extra battery and charger (because I lost the original charger-- then found it the day we bought a new one). Update: I wanted to update this review now that we've had the car for awhile. Excellent I would highly recommend it. Great company to buy from. Like the other reviewer stated, the battery just does fit into the compartment. I was a little unsure, he's had several rc cars before and they didn't last long. 26 of 26 people found the following review helpful. 14 of 14 people found the following review helpful.
