Pray the Rosary Bead by Bead
Although I have never been an avid book reader, I do enjoy reading an occasional book. A couple months ago I decided to buy myself a Kindle from Amazon. I have downloaded about a dozen books so far and am absolutely amazed at how easy and inexpensive it is to download ebooks from the Kindle Store. I read a lot more now days than I ever have in the past; in fact, I carry my Kindle with me most of the time since it contains all of my books of interest in a small device about the size of a small notebook.I also am a lifelong Catholic and have enjoyed using my rosary beads throughout my life to say the rosary. I mostly say it in the privacy of my home or at my church. Recently though that has all changed, very much for the better. I came across the Kindle book by Michael Hart "Pray the Rosary Bead by Bead". I downloaded this book and have reviewed it thorougly. In one word it is EXCELLENT. A useful Rosary tool
If you're new to praying the Rosary (I am) or frequently get disturbed while praying the Rosary (as happens when I pray in the early morning, hopefully before my grandchildren want to join me in my bed) this Kindle Edition that is formatted to mimic Rosary beads is great. Yes it is formatted as one prayer per page, and you have to turn the page after every Hail Mary - that's the advantage when a 3-year old bursts in with a "Wake up, Granny!" - your Kindle will keep your place until you can return to the proper contemplative state and complete praying your Rosary.This Rosary book is what it says it is and works the way it says it does and certainly helps with memorising the way the prayers of the Rosary flow.

But, I often take my Kindle with me for access to my many books and now for access to my rosary!

I also like having the precise bible scriptures associated with each Mystery integrated into the process itself; it allows a more detailed focus by reading the actual living word of God without losing rhythm. While I personally know what the mysteries are about and what each decade story is, it adds a bit of opportunity to read in detail the bible passages of each mystery while not breaking stride with the prayer process. And, if there is ever a moment of distraction by events around me, I never lose my exact spot in praying the rosary.

I pray that this book enhances opportunity for you to pray the rosary on many occasions when otherwise you may not have, and I hope it enhances your prayers on a regular basis through deeper connection with the scriptures which are the living word of God.

Good intro but some typos
This is a great step-by-step, but the Closing Prayer has "Grant we beech thee" instead of "Grant, we beseech Thee". Since it appears after each set of miracles, all with the same typo, it gets a bit annoying. A great concept though, and a near perfect implementation.

A Timeless Romance

This is not a review of THE ROSARY, but I have some knowledge of Florence Barclay and a list of more of her books. As a result of reading THE ROSARY in the mid 80's, I became a devoted Florence Barcly fan and have traveled to England several times, two of which I searched out some of her childhood haunts, and also homes that she owned when she was older. Florence Barclay was born December 2, l862, in a little Surrey village in England. Her father, the Reverend Samuel Charlesworth, was Rector of the Anglican Perish there. When Florence was l8 years old, she married The Reverend Charles Barclay and took on all the responsiblities of a Rector's wife, including teaching a Bible class of l00 men, and playing the organ for services in the church, where she and her husband remained for 40 years. Another Jane Eyre
Yes, the heroine is named Jane, she is plain, sensible, and very bright, though this one is exceedingly musical (Bronte's Jane was not). The hero is Garth, gorgeous, bright (perhaps not as mature as Jane and a bit more self-centered), and highly interested in the heroine, especially after she sings. Such begins the verbal tug-of-war brimming with wit and sexual tension. Both have feelings for the other though Jane's homeliness is the obstacle that prevents immediate union. Garth, however, meets with an unfortunate accident which renders him, low and behold, blind. Convenient, eh? Garth's pride replaces Jane's looks as the romantic obstruction. What ensues is a heart-squeezing chain of events which have the reader rooting for the match like a ridiculous cheerleader. While profoundly romantic, don't expect an x-rated sex scene. Afterall, the romance is that which preceeds the sex.

Incomparable...just a wonderful book!
This is a little bit of pious reading you will return to again and again. Although the writing style may make it somewhat dated, the truths that come forth are just as potent today as they were when this was first written. Vatican II types who have tried to reduce devotion to Mary to something optional and outdated will hopefully have their eyes opened wide after reading this, and re-discover why the Rosary is, after the Mass, the most powerful prayer the Holy Catholic Church posseses. Miss this book at your soul's peril!
