Van Helsing is a fun, tongue-in-cheek, salute to the horror films of the 50's and 60's.
This film is a throwback to those old 50's horror films that had classic monsters doing battle with each other coupled with the wit of the 60's era all combined with the thrills and special effects of today's films.Entertainment rarely gets better than this. Now stop laughing at my five stars for this kind of film. This isn't the five stars you would give a film like or . It's more like the five stars you would you give a film like or...

See the Movie Before Reviewing It
Why do people pan a movie so harshly when they haven't even seen it yet? I have seen VAN HELSING in an audience preview, and I will tell you that the trailer doesn't come close to describing the film. As the Universal folks said, the special effects weren't finished in time for the trailer... but the final product is absolutely stunning. No, critics will probably not like this fun romp through Van Helsing's monster adventures. It might not win an Academy Award for its script. But if you liked The Mummy or other epic adventures of its type, you ARE going to be the right audience for VAN HELSING.This movie is just plain fun. The story pays homage to the classic monster legacy films in Universal's vault, as well as many modern day adventures. Van Helsing is a James Bond character of dark Transylvania. And his battles against Dracula are a roller coaster ride with non-stop action and vivid, beautiful scenery. If you're an art film snob or the type who overanalyzes...

I Hate to Bite and Run...
All said and done, this film is a tremendous amount of fun. Director Stephen Sommers takes the stuff of our favorite fictional monsters and blends them together to create a highly imaginative reconstruction of the story of Dracula. Resemblances to Bram Stoker's original tale are entirely accidental. Instead we find Dracula (Richard Roxburgh) using with Dr. Frankenstein (Samuel West) to serve some dark and nefarious purpose. Not very far in the background is a werewolf (Will Kemp) who carries part of the answer to the puzzle - when he isn't trying to chew a hole in Gabriel Van Helsing (Hugh Jackman).Kate Beckinsale plays Anna Valerious, the last living member of her family, who have been dedicated to exterminating Dracula for some 400 years. Thanks to an oath of her forefathers, the Valerious line is condemned to purgatory as long as Dracula wanders the night. Concerned that this curse is about to become permanent, a secret order of the Catholic Church sends in their...

An Instant and Timeless Classic
After re-watching a dozen episodes from The Dick Van Dyke Show, I changed my mind and decided that I should, after all, write an Amazon review for the series. Not because I think too many people will see my review, which will undoubtedly be hidden beneath multiple pages of previously-posted reviews. Not because I think Amazon readers need any more recommendations to get this set after reading the scores of such recommendations already present. Not even because it would be fun to reminisce as I wrote the review about everything I liked about the show over the years. No, I decided to write this review because, after re-watching these classic episodes again, I realized afresh that The Dick Van Dyke Show is one of the best, perhaps THE best, comedy series I've ever seen, and if even a single person watches this show for the first time because of this review, the effort would be entirely justified. There are lots of funny TV shows, but I can't think of any that have affected me...

Please tell me there's a sequel!!?
This novella was like a perfect dessert that melted in your mouth, satisfying and sweet. Rachel Van Dyken's humor shines through again as we meet the two dashing twins Anthony and Ambrose who take on the Ton for sport! Add a wallflower, Cordelia, written by Leah Sanders, a bet, and some unexpected attraction and you have a delightful confection that makes you grin and sigh! While the story is novella length you aren't rushed through the plot. The storyline is well developed and you quickly love and enjoy the characters. I hope there a sequel about is about the twin brother...or maybe Wilde the dashing friend, really I'm not picky....as long as there's more!

Lovely Short Story
Though this story was shorter than most of her work it was none the less enchanting. Lady Cordelia's story from endentured service to talk of the Ton was quite the tale. Normally one for staying out of the spotlight Cordelia is quite put out when Lord Ambrose not only notices her but asks her to dance. By the end of the story it makes you wonder just who saved whom. A great story and I cant wait for more!

Very short...but a nice read
I really enjoyed this story even though it was extremely short. I recommend it if you want a little bit of delight in your day but don't want to take long to get it. I'll watch for a sequel.

Sigh...blush...giggle
Right now I'm sporting a huge grin on my face. I loved this book. There were parts where the banter and witty remarks had me laughing out loud and other parts where I wanted to chuck my kindle at a stubborn Lord Rawlings, then, shortly after, chuck it at a equally stubborn Abby Gates. The love story was so much more than a, love at first sight and I'll never be the same, rendition. The depth of the characters transcended the page and you were able to see through their eyes, and feel their emotions as you blushed with them and cursed with them as well. As a huge fan of Rachel Van Dyken's I have to say she is simply getting better and better. I've not read a book yet I can compare with the depth of the character development present in "The Redemption of Lord Rawlings." The whole book was a delight to read and didn't leave me with any questions, confusion or lack of adventure and climax in the storyline, a hard feat to do! I highly recommend this book. It was passionate but...

Another Masterpiece
To say that I have been anxiously awaiting this book would be a gross understatement. Though not a huge fan of Rawlings at first (reading what he did to Emma in the Seduction of Sebastian St James) I soon fell in love :) Abigail is a wonderful lady and comes into her own in the book. Having set her sights on Rawlings when she was younger it was nice to see how everything came about. Once again Rachel Van Dyken has created a wonderful story and brought people to life with her words. I totally recommened the Redemption of Lord Rawlings and look forward to future books by this wonderful author!

Product Description

Phillip Crawford, the eighth Earl of Rawlings and notorious rake of the ton, has come to the end of his rope. Out of money, out of favor, and out of luck, he wanders the streets of London in the rain, hoping to be hit by inspiration...or a runaway carriage. Something has to give. It is his father's final cruel trick to hold his inheritance just out of reach, requiring him to marry by his next birthday in order to claim his full rights as earl. His step-mother refuses to offer him any more support. With no money, no prospects and no other place to turn, he has only two options:

Marriage or debtor's prison.

The better choice seems clear enough, but with his name and reputation being attacked daily in the society papers, there's not a proper lady in all of London desperate enough to accept him. It isn't going to be easy, even if the reports of his exploits and rakish lifestyle are greatly exaggerated.

On the other hand, debtor's prison does start to look much more appealing when the only friends he has left decide to help him in his search for the perfect bride. Matters become much more complicated when the only woman who shows an interest in him just happens to be the young sister-in-law of the Duke of Tempest; the same man who, just months ago, had been tempted to kill him.

One thing is for certain, as the Season draws to an end, Lord Rawlings will have to decide once and for all, if his wicked ways are enough to bring him contentment in life, or if a leopard really can change his spots. Or in Phillip's case—can a devil truly be redeemed?

Loved it
So much better than The Seduction of Sebastian St. James, although Sebastian comes alive as a secondary character in this novel. It was engaging, even though there were times when I wanted to kick Rawlings myself. I said the novelist had great potential in her last novel, and I am so happy to see it realised in this one.I like that she was not over the top in contrived complications. She had several and resolved them well. Her use of dialogue and her plot and characterisation were fantastic. Rawlings's despair and love for Abigail were clearly felt. When Abby got over her immaturity, she emerged a stronger more likeable character who made one smile and cheer for her when she got the upper hand on Rawlings. Her love for him was unconditional, but she did not make herself a doormat for him. Good female heroine. The stepmother got her come uppance and I like that it wasn't a mere slap on the wrist. Not inviting her to the wedding and her public shaming were well deserved...

Wow.
Honestly, this is my favorite book of the "Renwick House" series. That's saying a lot since I LOVED the first book, The Ugly Duckling Debutaunte. Author Rachel Van Dyken keeps getting better. Synopsis: Emma has a dark past that is steeped in scandal, a scandal that never happened, but no one will believe her. Sebastien St. James, the Duke of Tempest is called the "Angel Duke" not only because his looks are angelic, but his reputation is spotless and his heroics are legendary. Emma and Sebastien meet and the seduction begins. For Emma, he's her way of experiencing life before she signs away her future to an overweight toothless gentleman who will marry her even if he were to find out her secret. For Sebastien, she is an adventure he's never experienced. Together they throw grapes, get caught in closets, make up a fake engagement and most of all, fall in love. But if the story ended like that, it would be just another regency romance, which I assure you, this book is not...

Wonderful Story
With a scandelous past Emma has little hope for a bright future but has joined her cousin Sara in London's Season so Emma's sister can have her own coming out without causing a new scandal. The Angel Duke (as he is called) has no scandal and the hopes of marrying a young lady without a checkered past but then he meets the brazen and beautiful Emma. Will her past mar her future with an Angel? After reading the first book in this series I had no doubts that Rachel Van Dyke would deliver another wonderful story, but I did not think she could out do her first book in the series...I was wonderfully and happily proven wrong. I am very much looking forward to the next in the series :)

Buy a Van

The pros of buying a van There are a number advantages associated with buying a van. The first thing you must realise is that by leasing a van, you’ll never truly own it. Instead, you pay the leasing company a monthly fee and you can use the van for the length of your leasing agreement. Buying vs Leasing a Van or Commercial Vehicle Often, picking out the van you want is the easy part. This means you can sell or trade it at any time when you need to. The pros of leasing a van There are a number of reasons why leasing a van can be a good idea. Leasing a van can come with a limit on your annual mileage, therefore buying a van will leave you free to cover as many miles as you like. The difference between buying and leasing Buying is the easier to understand of the two – you get the money together (either through a loan or from savings), use it to buy the van and you are the owner. Of course, when you buy the van you are the owner and if you have your own business, the van becomes one of your company’s assets. Leasing a van also comes with the option of buying the vehicle outright when the initial lease period is over. The breakdown and maintenance cover is usually including in the lease agreement, which means if the van breaks down or needs repaired, the lease company will meet the cost of getting it back on the road. One thing you’ll certainly notice is that the monthly payments are a lot lower than what you would pay on a loan or finance agreement used to buy a new van.
